Caoimhín Kelleher and Nathan Collins both played in the Republic of Ireland’s dramatic victory over Hungary on Sunday, which secured their spot in the play-offs for next summer’s World Cup.

The Brentford duo were involved as Troy Parrott netted a hat-trick in a 3-2 win, with the third being the decisive goal in the 96th minute.

That win over Hungary came just a few days after Ireland defeated Portugal 2-0, with Parrott netting a brace in a game that saw Cristiano Ronaldo sent off.

Ireland confirmed second in Group F, with two single-leg play-off games to qualify for the United States, Mexico and Canada World Cup next June awaiting them.

The draw for those play-offs will be made on Thursday.

Elsewhere, Jordan Henderson came on as a substitute in England’s 2-0 win over Serbia at Wembley.

The midfielder was an unused substitute against Albania, which ended in the same scoreline, which saw the Three Lions complete a 100 per cent record in World Cup qualifying, whilst not conceding a goal in the process.

Aaron Hickey started Scotland’s 3-2 defeat to Greece on Saturday. However, after Denmark’s draw with Belarus, Hickey and co know that beating the Danes in Glasgow on Tuesday will see them top the group and qualify automatically for the World Cup.

Mikkel Damsgaard scored in Denmark’s 2-2 draw with Belarus. The Bees man picked the ball up on the edge of the box, and curled a fantastic effort into the bottom corner. That wasn’t enough to secure three points for his side, who dominated the game in Copenhagen.

Norway and Kristoffer Ajer secured their place at the World Cup. The defender played 90 minutes in the 4-1 win against Estonia, before also starting the superb 4-1 victory against Italy on Sunday, which confirmed their place at next summer’s tournament.

Kevin Schade won his fifth cap for Germany, as he came on in 2-0 win over Luxembourg on Friday. Newcastle United forward Nick Woltemade scored a brace to keep Julian Nagelsmann's side top of Group A.

They will now hope to complete the job by beating second-placed Slovakia on Monday, which will see them book their place at the 2026 tournament in North America. However, defeat in Leipzig will leave them having to settle for a play-off spot.

Ukraine secured their spot in the play-offs, with Yehor Yarmoliuk starting both of their games this international break.

After defeat to group winners France on Thursday, a 2-0 victory against Iceland in a winner-takes-all Group D clash saw them take one step closer to World Cup qualification.

Hákon Valdimarsson was an unused substitute for Iceland in that Ukraine defeat, as well as in the win over Azerbaijan earlier in the week.

Rico Henry made his Jamaica debut as a substitute in their 1-1 draw against Trinidad and Tobago on Friday, with Ethan Pinnock starting the game.

The Reggae Boyz sit second in their qualifying group, one point behind Curaçao, who they face in a crucial final group game on Wednesday.

Despite impressive performances from both Frank Onyeka and Benjamin Fredrick, Nigeria missed out on next summer’s World Cup.

The Super Eagles beat Gabon 4-1 after extra-time to reach the final of the African play-offs, knowing a win would send them to the United States, Mexico and Canada next year.

And despite Onyeka putting Nigeria ahead in the final, DR Congo pulled one back and then won the game on penalties in Morocco, which saw them qualify for the tournament and knock Onyeka and Fredrick out.

Burkina Faso and Dango Ouattara had already missed out on qualification for the World Cup, but beat Niger 3-2 in a friendly.

Conor McManus featured in the Republic of Ireland Under-21s 2-0 defeat to back-to-back European champions England in U21s Euro 2027 qualifying.

Jayden Meghoma captained England Under-20s to a 1-1 draw against Japan in a friendly. Benjamin Arthur also started the game on Friday night.

Julian Eyestone was called up for the USA Under-20s for back-to-back games away in Costa Rica. The visitors won the first game 2-1 on Saturday.

Luka Bentt and Belgium Under-19s recorded an unbeaten start to U19s Euro 2027 qualifying, with a win over North Macedonia and a draw with Estonia.

Also in U19s Euro qualifying, Lithuania U19s and Matas Klimas lost to England and beat Scotland in their opening two games.
