A solid, line-breaking defender, Matas Klimas' joined the Bees after spending four years at Tottenham Hotspurs’ Academy.
His football journey began at the grassroots level before trialling at Dagenham & Redbridge and Millwall. He was scouted and signed by Spurs at U13 level.
Matas is known for his composure and ability to read the game. His time at Brentford has further sharpened his skills, particularly his passing and game intelligence. The young defender has represented Lithuania at international level from U15 to U19, showcasing his talent on a bigger stage.
Most recently, in the summer of 2025, Matas competed in the Baltic cup tournament for his nation, featuring in a 1-0 loss against Estonia.
During the 2024/25 season, Matas made numerous appearances stepping up to the B team and has also trained alongside the first team at the Robert Rowan Performance Centre, giving him valuable insight into the level of professionalism required both on and off the pitch.
The Lithuanian centre-half started 36 times for the Under-18s and B team last term and contributed one goal as well as three assists. He also started for the B team in both the quarter-final victory over Welling and the semi-final win against Barking in the London Senior Cup, testing himself against men’s sides.
His positive performances across the season saw him promoted to the B team for the 2025/26 campaign.
