New signing Jaidon Anthony scored as Brentford came from behind twice to beat AFC Wimbledon 3-2 in a behind-closed-doors pre-season friendly at Jersey Road on Wednesday.
Iwan Morgan and Mikkel Damsgaard were also on target for the Bees, with Kevin Schade, Josh Dasilva, Vitaly Janelt and Dango Ouattara among those to feature against the League One side.
AFC Wimbledon took the lead just two minutes into the contest when a Dons forward got in behind the Brentford defence and slotted past Caoimhín Kelleher.
The Bees, wearing the new home kit for 2026/27 and 2027/28, then took control and set about breaking down the visitors' defence. Janelt was central to their response, playing a superb ball over the top for Schade. The German used his pace to race clear, but his shot was saved by the keeper.
Dasilva was also heavily involved during the opening 15 minutes. He threaded a clever pass through to Brentford B striker Morgan just outside the six-yard box, but the Wimbledon keeper made another solid stop.
The Dons' no.1 denied the hosts again after Dasilva won a free-kick just outside the penalty area. Dasilva laid the set-piece off to Janelt, whose well-struck effort forced the keeper to tip the ball wide.
Brentford equalised five minutes before half-time. Gustavo Nunes did superbly to ride a couple of tackles down the left before squaring for Morgan at the far post. The Welshman, who scored three goals on loan at Shrewsbury Town in Sky Bet League Two during the second half of last season, tapped home.
Wimbledon restored their lead five minutes after the restart. Ellery Balcombe initially produced a stunning save to tip an effort over the crossbar, but Brentford couldn't deal with the resulting corner. The ball was headed across goal twice before being scrambled over the line.
Anthony then brought the ball down brilliantly and squared for Kaye Furo, whose effort was blocked by the goalkeeper, although the assistant referee had already raised his flag.
Two minutes later, Furo went even closer to an equaliser. The forward collected the ball just inside the penalty area before seeing his shot crash off the crossbar, bounce down onto the goal line and stay out.
Furo continued to look sharp and fired narrowly past the post midway through the second half as he caused problems for the Wimbledon defence.
Brentford eventually drew level following good work from Damsgaard and Anthony. Damsgaard attempted to square for the new Bees signing and, after the ball deflected off a defender, Anthony reacted quickly to sweep the bouncing ball home.
The hosts completed the turnaround with 15 minutes remaining. Furo was fouled, but the referee allowed play to continue as Ouattara charged forward and found Damsgaard, who showed his composure to clip the ball over the advancing goalkeeper and secure the pre-season victory.
