Born in Cork, goalkeeper Caoimhín Kelleher joined Liverpool’s academy in the summer of 2015 from Ringmahon Rangers.

In the decade he spent at Anfield, the Republic of Ireland international was part of the squads that won the Premier League twice, the Champions League, the FA Cup and the Carabao Cup twice, as well as the UEFA Super Cup.

Kelleher made his competitive debut in a 2-0 cup victory away at Milton Keynes Dons in September 2019.

He also marked his first Champions League and Premier League appearances with a clean sheet in Liverpool wins; Jürgen Klopp’s side defeating Ajax and Wolves 1-0 and 4-0 respectively in early December 2020.

That saw the Irishman become the youngest Liverpool goalkeeper to keep a clean sheet on their Premier League debut.

Following the conclusion of the 2020/21 campaign, Kelleher - who had previously represented his country at Under-17s, Under-18s, Under-19s and Under-21s level - made his senior international bow in a goalless draw against Hungary.

Arguably his most memorable moment in his time at Liverpool came in the 2022 Carabao Cup final where, after impressing with a string of saves during the game, he stepped up to score the winning penalty in a shoot-out success against Chelsea at Wembley Stadium.

Renowned as a spot-kick specialist, he also went on to deny Real Madrid sensation Kylian Mbappé from 12 yards in the Champions League in November 2024, and he had won a club-record four penalty shoot-outs when he departed Liverpool at the end of the 2024/25 campaign for west London.

Penning a five-year deal with a club option of a further year in June 2025, Kelleher became the Bees’ third permanent signing of the summer window alongside Michael Kayode and Romelle Donovan, both of whom had initially joined on loan earlier in the year.

On joining Brentford, he said: “I like the way the manager and the coaching staff go about their ways. It seems like a really close, tight knit, family club.

“They’ve got a really good track record of improving and developing players which is really what’s drawn me to the club.”
