Brentford Women drew 2-2 with Dorking Wanderers Women in the LSE Premier at Bedfont Sports Club this afternoon.
Chelsie Berry scored an early opener before two first-half goals from Dorking gave Brentford a hill to climb in the second half. After a dominant second half display, Habeebat Gbajabiamila levelled the game late on.
The Bees had a great chance within 40 seconds when Alissa Down's deep free-kick was met by the stooping Regan Graver who lifted her header over the crossbar.
Carly Williams' side started with real intent and had the lead on five minutes when Ashley Cheatley fed Berry in one-on-one on the transition and the winger tucked her effort in to the bottom corner for her sixth of the season.
The lead was short-lived though as Dorking found an equaliser on ten minutes after the ball deflected fortunately into the path of Megan Wood from Rebecca Teale's clearance, who then squeezed the ball past Sophie Boycott in the Brentford net.
On 20 minutes, Boycott's reactions kept the game level after Megan Saunders snuck in behind the Bees' defence and volleyed from the six-yard box but the Brentford keeper made an excellent block from point-blank range.
Asees Sangha had an effort from long range as the game began to really open up.
On 38 minutes, Lucy Potter and Sangha combined brilliantly down the left and the latter pulled the ball back into a great area but neither Khyri McKenzie nor substitute Ilana Harris-Walters could get on the end of it.
It was the visitors who scored the next goal of the game though. On 41 minutes Lily Price drove into the box from the left flank and beat Boycott at the near post with a low strike to give the Bees work to do at the break.
The west Londoners started the second period really well, Harris-Walters forcing a good save down to Libby Stratton's near post.
Boycott was called in to action again on 52 minutes when Abby Delves found Wood in the box but the Brentford goalkeeper saved well with her legs.
Makeba Black saw an improvised effort float over the crossbar from a corner two minutes later and Maï Louvrier also came close with an effort from the edge of the box as Williams' side looked for a way back into the game.
Chloe McKnee had a brilliant chance to extend Dorking's lead but blazed her half-volley over the bar from close range.
Freya Worsley impacted the midfield when she came on and set Brentford away on an excellent attack in which they were unlucky not to get the leveller.
Her through ball found Louvrier on the left who, after a neat one-two with Sangha, curled her effort goalbound. The strike was parried by Stratton into Cheatley who didn't have time to adjust her body and the Dorking keeper gratefully held on to the rebound.
On 70 minutes Cheatley played in Habeebat Gbajabiamila but her touch was too heavy when in on goal.
Cloe O'Brien came on with 15 minutes to go, playing her first competitive minutes since joining the Bees in summer after missing the start of the season with injury.
She had an immediate impact as on 77 minutes the west Londoners were level. The forward nodded a through ball into the path of Gbajabiamila who finished expertly over Stratton and into the bottom right corner to make it 2-2.
Cheatley had a big chance to win it in stoppage-time when a loose back pass sent her through on goal but Stratton stood her ground and saved well.
Despite an audacious lobbed attempt from O'Brien and a Down free-kick that nestled onto the roof of the net, Williams' side couldn't find a winner and had to settle for a point at home.
The Bees are next in action away to Clapton Community in the League Cup on Sunday 30 November.

Carly Williams on "hard-fought draw"
Brentford Women head coach reacted to her side's 2-2 draw with Dorking Wanderers Women this afternoon.
"We had the opportunities earlier in the game. We went ahead early then let them back in with our mistakes," she said.
"We'll go back and look at what we can improve on but I thought we dominated well. It got quite transitional when we went after the equaliser.
"I'm really pleased with the way we fought back. We don't want to chase a game but it gave us an opportunity to look at the character of the group and who we can put in to make a difference."
