Freya Worsley is one of Brentford FC Women’s First Team’s rising talents. Known for her energetic, quick, and technical playing style, the midfielder brings speed and flair to the pitch.
Since joining Brentford nearly two years ago, she has established herself as an impactful player, aiming to help the team secure promotion this season.
Freya’s football journey began at a young age. She started playing football when she was just 4 or 5 years old, enjoying the game with the boys' team in her primary school. Her first formal experience in girls' football came at the U14 level with AFC Wimbledon, where she played for three years before moving on to Leatherhead Youth. A brief stint in Nottingham followed, and Freya ultimately signed with Brentford, where she has continued to grow as a player.
Off the pitch, Freya works as a primary school PE teaching assistant. Her job keeps her close to sport, allowing her to share her football experiences with the children she teaches. In turn, she finds inspiration in them, learning valuable lessons that she brings back to her game. “My job is based around sport, so I get to share what I learn from football with the children, and I also learn a lot from them,” Freya says, emphasizing the importance of her role as a mentor to young children.
Freya’s proudest moment in her career came last year when she helped her team win two cup finals. Another standout moment in her time at Brentford was playing in the FA Cup first round against Southampton, where she felt the incredible support of the crowd at Bedfont, a moment she’ll always cherish.
Her goals for the current season are clear — she wants to help Brentford win the league and secure promotion, a goal she’s committed to achieving through hard work and dedication.
As a role model for young girls aspiring to play football, Freya’s advice is simple but powerful: “Don’t give up.” She understands the challenges that come with the game but encourages resilience and perseverance.
Looking to the future, Freya is excited about the continued growth of women’s football globally and believes that the opportunities for young girls will only get bigger and better. She hopes to play a role in helping women’s football grow and inspiring the next generation of players. With her experience and dedication, Freya is poised to be a driving force both for Brentford and for women’s football as a whole.
