Tom Adeyemi said the Brentford players were delighted with their 2-1 win against Notts County.
The Bees trailed to their fellow promotion-chasers after a slow starts but Adam Forshaw equalised after Brentford changed their system and Clayton Donaldson headed a last gasp winner.
Tom said Brentford coped well with Notts County and produced an outstanding response after falling behind.
“It is an amazing feeling to be able to come to a place like this and come away with the result we were looking for,” said the midfield player.
“Everyone is delighted.
“In every game you want to impose your way of playing but it is important to know what you are up against and we were aware of what Notts County would do.
“I thought we coped with it really well.
“It’s difficult to be at the level you need be at for 90 minutes.
“They showed the sort of team they are and capitalised when we were a bit off.
“The way we responded was outstanding and we got the win.”
Tom had not played since being he picked up a hamstring injury in a 1-0 win against Portsmouth on November 6.
He said he was not 100 per cent fit but felt fine after playing 45 minutes against County.
He said he was disappointed to miss big games against Sheffield United and Milton Keynes Dons but was delighted with how Brentford had done in his absence – unbeaten in npower League One.
He praised the work of Brentford FC Head of Medical Neil Greig, First Team Physiotherapist Daryl Martin and Head of Conditioning Chris Haslam in getting him ready for action.
“I came on a bit earlier than expected,” admitted Tom.
“I am still not 100 per cent.
“I am still building my fitness.
“I have done extra work during the week.
“I was delighted to be able to get on, put myself about and feel like I am part of it.
“I feel fine now; I felt really good at the start, had a dip to catch my breath and finished strongly.
“Considering I have been out for six weeks, I am happy with how I did.
“It’s difficult to be injured.
“On the night I did it, I looked at the fixtures and some of the games coming up – Sheffield United, MK Dons – and it was a big blow to miss them.
“I am delighted with how the team did; it has made it easier to come back in.
“I owe a lot to the medical team, Daryl and Neil have been excellent and Chris in the last couple of weeks.
“There is a great set-up.
“Compared to other places I have been on loan, this is miles better; it is closer to the Premier League.
“The infrastructure is outstanding.”
Tom said he could see the winning goal coming and praised Clayton Donaldson’s bravery.
An Adam Forshaw shot was cleared high in the air and Clayton rose above three defenders to head in, narrowly avoiding a collision with the frame of the goal.
“It was a bit frustrating not to get the goal earlier, I could see it was coming,” said Tom.
“Clayton showed bravery to nick it over the line.
“He did amazingly well to get there first.
“He showed great desire.
“It was only a small moment but characterised the way we have played.”
Brentford are now unbeaten in nine npower League One games, have won their last four and are only off the top of the table on goal difference.
But Tom said Brentford were now there to be shot at and had not achieved anything yet.
“The lads are really pleased but we know you don’t win anything at Christmas,” he said.
“We have shown with the run we have had that a few wins can propel you up the table.
“It can work the other way as well.
“We know we have to be on it as other teams will think getting something against us is a real scalp.”
He paid tribute to almost 600 Brentford fans who travelled to Nottingham for the match.
“The fans were amazing,” he added
“Christmas is a tough time with so many games and it’s difficult to get to games with ticket prices.
“It’s a credit to them.
“It spurs you on and it helped us get the goal.”
