What a fantastic day yesterday was!
Winning the Milk Cup seemed like a dream at the start of the week but come the middle of the week and after the performance against Everton (when Brentford lost 3-2) the dream was very much real.
From that point on, the boys had the self confidence and success was fully expected from within the camp.
Ose Aibangee, Director of Youth Development, was keen to stress the hard work and preparation that had gone into yesterday's success.
"The achievements of these players shouldn't be underestimated bearing in mind they have played against some outstanding players, some who are youth Internationals," he said.
"The majority our of our players have been in the academy system for less than two years, therefore it would be reasonable to predict that they can improve further and progress at the club.
"They have been up against players who would have been in the academy system for six or seven years.
"This highlights the hard work that has been going on with the players over a short space of time in terms or recruitment and coaching.
"We do many things differently to other academies that I have previously worked at or have been lucky enough to visit.
"It seems to have paid off in dividends with the Milk Cup success.
"Preparation was the key to our Milk Cup success this year.
"We trained hard in pre-season and since we have been in Northern Ireland all the staff have excellent.
"The diet and nutrition was excellent and it enabled the boys to prepare and recover adequately for each game.
"The sports conditioning and medical team have looked after the boys superbly.
"This has enabled the players to perform at a high level under extreme and demanding conditions throughout the week's tournament.
"The analysis that Luke Sropforth has provided has been first class and has enabled the coaches to put their plans into place.
"It's a key thing for me that not only the players played well, but they also won.
"It's important when we come on these tours and competitions that we give the boys the best opportunity to win as part of their development."
Ose continued: "We have progressed way beyond my expectations as an academy.
"Credit must go to all of the staff and players who have worked hard for this achievement.
"We are moving towards being a top ten academy.
"That is our aim and ambition.
"Although it's great to win such a prestigious tournament we must continue to move forward and get players into the First Team.
"It's great to win but we must continue to work hard to get players into the Brentford First Team.
"That is when we know we have been really successful."
The boys were clearly excited after the success but the high standards of warm downs, eating the right food and keeping hydrated was maintained throughout the week.
The staff threw a Britain's Got Talent night with the highlight being the impersonations of Danny Buck, Ose Aibangee and Shaun O'Connor which got a giggle from the fellow staff.
The boys watched the highlights of their success on the BBC before they headed back to the bedroom for the final night at camp.
Today the boys leave Northern Ireland around lunch time and will be back in London Heathrow mid afternoon.
It's been a brilliant, but hard working week, and one that I will personally never forget.
