Defender James Tarkowksi gave his thoughts on the 2-0 victory over Reading at the Madejski Stadium, which means Brentford are still in with a chance of competing in the end of season Play-Offs.
“It was a tough game,” said James.
“They were a team who didn’t have a whole lot to play for, and played with a bit of freedom.
“It was quite an open game, with us going from three points and get as many goals as we can.
“To go away from home, get three points and a couple of goals is nice.
“They worked hard, very hard.
“Fair play to them they put a good shift in but lucky for us we came out with the win.”
Brentford gained their first win since the 4-1 demolition of Fulham at Craven Cottage, goals from Alan Judge and a second half headed goal from the 22-year-old defender, his first of the season.
“We needed the first goal, we’ve not won in a while, so it was nice to get that, hold on to the lead, and finish with a clean sheet,” said James.
James paid tribute to goalkeeper David Button, who made a string of saves and blocks for the side’s first clean sheet in ten games.
“Butts played outstandingly again today,” said James.
“The one or two times he did get through, he was there and stayed solid and got the clean sheet for us.
“We were down after last Saturday but we had to come here today and get the three points, put a good shift in.
“We played good football today, made chances, and were quite comfortable for the last ten minutes, kept the ball well.
“It’s always nice to do that instead of them coming at us.”
