Striker Andre Gray gave his views on Brentford’s 2-0 win against Reading.
“It was a matter of getting the three points and get as many goals as we could,” said James.
“It could come down the last day and goal difference so getting the goal early was obviously good for us.
“It’s a shame we couldn’t get a few more.”
Andre explained his part in the first Brentford goal, which settled the nerves for both supporters and players.
“It was a great ball from Judgey,” said Andre.
“It was a case of me being patient, I couldn’t get the cross in first time, I didn’t see anyone there, then Judgey made the run and tried to put it in that area and it was a good finish.”
Brentford posted their first clean sheet for nearly two months, which pleased the 23-year-old striker.
“We needed to get a clean sheet for confidence as well,” said Andre.
“I’m happy to get another assist and could have got another goal; I’ll keep pushing and get a few next week.
“[We were] professional, the game was always going to be difficult.
“They played Arsenal last week and I think they did well against them.
“Away games are always difficult and we needed to impose our self; we’re at our best when we do that.
“It’s not about that now, it’s about being efficient and getting three points.”
Andre explained his role within the side, and the difficulties this poses to the lone striker in a 4-3-3 formation.
“I’m not dealing with one centre back, I deal with two,” said Andre.
“At times it gets difficult; sometimes I’m not able to get the ball down.
“Today the ball was dropping too short or going too long.
“It’s hard for me to judge, especially as I’m up there on my own and we like to play a lot.
“Sometimes I do try to stay offside to come back onside; sometimes I get caught but I know what I’m doing.
“I’m not being lazy, I’m trying to read the game and make the centre halves not see me until the last moment.
“It’s something I’m learning and I speak to people and watch my clips about it; I feel I can do better but that’s football and it’s a matter of trying to make the best decision.”
