Stuart Dallas said it felt good to make his full Football League debut for Brentford against Shrewsbury Town.
The Northern Ireland international, who joined The Bees in the summer, started on the right of midfield in a 0-0 draw in Shropshire.
It was Stuart’s seventh appearance for the Club but the first time Manager Uwe Rösler had selected him to start a Football League match.
“It feels good to get a start,” said Stuart, speaking to Bees Player after the match.
“I have been working hard in training.
“Thankfully the gaffer has given me a chance to go and show what I can do.
“I have been working hard since the start of the season to get this.
“My first six months here has been great.
“It has been a big change for me.
“With the help of the management team and the players, I have been able to adapt.”
Stuart said Brentford picked up a good point in the 0-0 draw with Shrewsbury.
He said the hosts were a decent team and provided a stern test.
“This was a good point for us,” he said.
“People may have been expecting us to come here and get a win.
“But Shrewsbury showed when they came to our place at the start of the season how good they are.
“Today it was a battle, the pitch wasn’t great, but it was the same for both teams.
“A draw is a good result for us.”
Stuart said Brentford had to sacrifice style for substance to get a share of the spoils.
On a wet and windy day with a pitch that had taken a large amount of rain, he said playing the ball crisply on the floor was difficult.
“We are known as a good football side and I thought we did pretty well today,” he said.
“But with the pitch, you have to go long.
“Thankfully we have come out and not been defeated.
“We had chances in the second half.
“At the start of the second half we had them penned back.
“I always thought one goal would win it and I thought we would get it.
“We had a good period of pressure and I thought it was coming.
“If you can’t win, you need to not lose.
“We have shown that through the season.
“We defended from the front and got a point.”
