Dean Smith was left ruing two dropped points after Leeds United snatched a late goal to draw a game that Brentford should have won.
“If we had got the second goal it would have been game over,” said Dean. “Saying that, David made a great save in the first half towards the end. We’ve restricted them to long range efforts; the goal was a fantastic finish from outside the box from a mistake by ourselves but second half we weren’t so good.
“We conceded too much of the pitch to them and too much of the ball, and that’s not like us at home and unfortunately we got punished.”
Sam Saunders repaid the faith shown in him by Dean in recent weeks with a superb individual goal.
“It was a super goal,” said Dean. “I’m really pleased for Sam. He’s ran 60 yards with the ball and a really good finish. It’s something that we’d looked at the video that we may be able to punish them with and we managed to do that.”
Marco Djuricin responded to his omission from the victory against Preston North End with a vibrant performance as a substitute.
“He’s took it on board,” said Dean. “In training he’s looked really good over the last few days; the intensity and the work rate, that’s what I had seen of him before. In the first half the other week he wasn’t good enough for us or him, but he’s taken it on board and got back on the bench and the pitch.”
