Brentford Under-21s return to Professional Development League action on Wednesday when they face Swansea City Under-21s at Joma High Performance Centre (1pm kick-off).

Following back-to-back Premier League Cup clashes and with two PL Cup fixtures to follow Swansea, Wednesday’s game provides a chance for Sam Saunders’ side to get back to winning ways in the league.

It’s been a mixed bag of results for the west Londoners in the past three league outings, with a draw, a win and a loss.

With Swansea sitting eighth, a point ahead of the young Bees but with two games in hand, Wednesday’s clash is an important one in Brentford’s quest to rise up the table.

Last time out

The west Londoners fell to a 1-0 away defeat to West Bromwich Albion in the PL Cup last time out.

Despite Gustavo Nunes being sent off late in the first half, Saunders’ side were the better of the two teams for the remainder of the game, creating multiple chances that couldn’t be finished off.

Previously in the league, Brentford lost to Bournemouth 3-2 at Wheatsheaf Park.

After going 2-0 down in the first half, the Bees responded through goals from Iwan Morgan and Romelle Donovan.

It was short-lived, however, as the Cherries found a third goal late in the second half to secure all three points.
