Heart of West London: Our Mission

HoWL Our Mission header

The Heart of West London is more than a campaign – it’s a commitment to saving lives. Every season we set clear objectives to raise awareness of cardiac health, deliver CPR training in our community, support life-saving research, and stand alongside those affected by heart conditions.

We’ve now published our latest Heart of West London Report, highlighting the impact so far and the challenges still ahead. From the number of people trained in CPR to the funds raised for cardiac research, the report shows how football can be a force for life-changing action.

Our Objectives

Use our platform and collective voice to raise awareness of cardiac health to create a healthier community and future.

Equip our community with the skills to save lives through CPR and defibrilation education. For every minute that a person in cardiac arrest doesn’t receive CPR and defibrillation, their chance of survival drops by up to 10%. Over a third (38%) of UK adults have never undertaken any form of training to learn essential CPR training.

Help prevent sudden cardiac death in young people by providing free cardiac screenings in the community with Cardiac Risk in the Young.

Committed to match-funding up to £100k to support ground-breaking research conducted by Dr Sabhi Gati at Royal Brompton and Harefield Hospitals Charity. The aim of the research is to increase knowledge of cardiovascular disease in young adults and athletes with the aim of increasing awareness, discovering more effective treatments and informing international guidance on ECG interpretation.

Provide support to anyone affected by poor cardiac health and create a community of live savers.
