Brentford midfielder Toumani Diagouraga said winning is all that is on the players’ minds as they head to Burnley on Saturday.
The Bees picked up their first three point haul of the Sky Bet Championship season last Saturday after a 4-2 victory at Bristol City to leave them with four points from their opening two matches.
Speaking to Bees Player Toumani said it was important to get a win early and the team are working hard in training to put an extended run of good form together.
“It was very important to get the three points last Saturday,” said Toumani. “We wanted to get off to a good start and after getting a point at home late on it was good to go to Bristol City and get the three points. Training has been very hard this week. We have been working with specific stuff with the Head Coach to make sure that we are ready for the games coming up. There is a good mood in the group because we have played two games and won one, drawn one. We are looking forward to the games ahead.”
Next up for Toumani and his teammates is a trip to recently relegated Burnley who have picked up two points from their first three matches.
Toumani is expecting a tough game against a strong Burnley side but has backed The Bees to impose their style of play on the match.
“It will be a tough game,” said Toumani. “They were in the Premier League last year and they didn’t lose too many players. We are expecting a tough game up there. We have a game-plan and hopefully we can get something out of it. We are expecting them to be hard-working and physical but we need to go there and play our game. We need to play our style of football and impose it on them.
“It is still very early in the season but I am sure that they will be up there come the end of the season. We need to go there and try and get something out of it. Everyone wants to keep the unbeaten run going as long as possible. We don’t want to lose any football matches. We have one thing on our mind and that is to win the game.”
Around 800 fans are expected to make the 480 mile journey up to Turf Moor tomorrow, with 900 making the journey to Bristol City last Saturday.
Toumani said the support from the travelling fans is greatly appreciated by the players as they understand the time and expense involved.
“We take a lot from the travelling support,” said Toumani. “Every time we go away from home it is nice to see a good turnout of away fans supporting you and getting you over the line when you need it. As players we appreciate that it is not easy for the fans to travel up and down the country supporting us. Every time they do that we are grateful.”
