Adam Forshaw said Brentford deserved their 2-1 win over Carlisle United.
The Bees won the match as Paul Hayes scored from a second half corner.
Jonathan Douglas had put Brentford ahead in the first half but Joe Garner equalised for the visitors.
Adam, speaking to Bees Player after the final whistle, said The Bees did not play well in the first 45 and Carlisle merited the 1-1 half time score but did enough to win the game after the break.
“After a sluggish first half, we really came in to it in the second half and we deserved the win,” said Adam.
“Carlisle always try and pass the ball and their work rate was brilliant.
“In the first half they passed it round well.
“In the second half we matched them up.
“We had to show a bit more urgency.
“We had three in midfield to match them up and our class shone through.
“Our first goal was against the run of play.
“I don’t think we got going at all, but we take it.
“When they got the goal, they probably deserved it.
“But we dug in, and eventually got the win.”
Both of Brentford’s goals came from Harry Forrester corners – Jonathan Douglas volleyed home in the first half and Paul Hayes turned in a Clayton Donaldson header down in the second.
There were other chances created from the deliveries sent in by Harry and Adam.
“We know we are a threat from set pieces, we work a lot on them,” said Adam.
“Jonathan Douglas is influential in them.
“As long as they are delivered well there is a really good chances.
“We practice them a lot.
“We need good delivery.”
Carlisle could have earned a share of the spoils when referee Andy Davies awarded them a disputed penalty.
But Simon Moore, who this week signed a new contract to stay at Griffin Park until the summer of 2016, saved Joe Garner’s spot kick.
It ensured The Bees won their third game in seven days after beating Boreham Wood in the FA Cup with Budweiser and Portsmouth in League One this week.
“We were devastated when the penalty was awarded, but Simon is a great goalkeeper, he has a great future,” said Adam.
“We knew he could save it.
“That topped off a great week.
“We know we can beat anyone.
“We will create chances, we are not afraid of anybody.”
