Tom Adeyemi said the Brentford squad were disappointed not to have taken three points against Shrewsbury Town.
The Bees were held to a 0-0 draw by the Shropshire outfit at a wet and windy Griffin Park.
Tom, speaking exclusively to Bees Player after the match, said Brentford had chances to have won but didn’t play as well as they could and had to address where they went wrong before Crawley Town come to Griffin Park on Saturday.
“We’re disappointed we weren’t able to come away with the three points,” said the midfield man.
“We have to look at the game, see where we could have been better and try to take the forward to the weekend.
“It wasn’t our best performance.
“In patches we were OK and we tried to do the right things all the way through.
“We created a couple of chances and on another day we would have taken one or two and it would have been a different story.
“It was an open game, especially towards the end.
“Both teams had good spells of play but weren’t able to finish it off.
“It’s another point on the board but we would have wanted to come away with three.
“We look for the positives in any performance and we have shown in recent weeks that we can defend when the opposition has good spells of play.
“We now have to do the other bit, which is put the ball in the net.”
The two key incidents in the game came with around 20 minutes remaining.
First, Shrewsbury were awarded a penalty when a Marvin Morgan shot struck the arm of Tony Craig.
However, referee Tom Robinson consulted with his assistant Barry Holderness and changed his mind, awarding a corner.
Minutes later, Paul Hayes turned in an Adam Forshaw cross for what appeared to be the opening goal but assistant referee Matthew Bounassisi had his flag up for offside and the strike was chalked off.
Brentford Manager Uwe Rösler said he felt Shrewsbury should have had a spot kick.
Tom said: “I have only seen it in real time and I thought Tony Craig was very close to Marvin Morgan when he struck it.
“It’s difficult for him to get out of the way.
“If the gaffer thinks it was a penalty then we have got lucky.
“But we have had our fair share of hard luck in the fact we have not been able to score a goal.
“I was behind the ball for the disallowed goal, it’s hard to tell.
“It’s something we will only know when we have seen replays.
“It’s one of those things.”
Tom has played Brentford’s last four games, his first starts for the Club after a loan move from Norwich City.
He said he was getting fitter every week after returning from injury and would continue to improve.
“I am definitely enjoying it,” he said.
“I had a fairly long injury and am still getting back to full match sharpness.
“This run of games would have definitely helped me and will stand me in good stead for the coming weeks.”
