Brentford fan and wheelchair tennis star Andy Lapthorne has started 2013 in the best possible way, with a title in Australia.
Andy, a Club and Brentford FC Community Sports Trust Disabled Ambassador, won the Quad singles at the Melbourne Open yesterday.
It was his first event of 2013 and he beat Anders Hard, from Sweden, in the Final.
Andy won a silver medal in the doubles in the Quad classification of wheelchair tennis – for those who have impairments in all four limbs – at the London 2012 Paralympics.
In the singles at the same tournament he was beaten by Anders Hard in the singles so gained a little bit of revenge in Melbourne.
Andy is down under to compete in the Australian Open, which will begin later this week.
The Australian Open is one of the four biggest, major, tournaments on the wheelchair tennis calendar.
