Tony Craig said the job was only half done after Brentford beat Swindon Town to reach the npower League One Play-Off Final.
The Bees booked their spot at Wembley, where they will face Yeovil Town and the winners will take a place in the npower Championship, with a penalty shoot-out win after a rollercoaster of an afternoon.
Brentford were ahead 2-0 and 3-1 but Swindon hit back and took the game to extra time by scoring a 95th minute equaliser.
The Bees couldn’t find a winner in the additional 30 minutes but scored all five penalties and won through as Simon Moore saved from Miles Storey.
Tony has lost a Play-Off Final while with Millwall and went back to win one a year later and said it is a bad place to lose.
“I have been through every emotion today,” said the central defender, speaking to Bees Player after the match.
“I’m a bit drained but ecstatic at the same time.
“But this is only half the job done.
“We’ve got to Wembley and that’s great but Wembley is a place for winners.
“If you are a loser it’s not a good place to be.
“You have to treat it as another game but we know it isn’t.
“We have to enjoy it but you only enjoy it by winning.
“We have a winning mentality here and we have to try and carry that on.”
Simon Moore also spoke to Bees Player after the match and said winning the final was all that was being thought about.
“The boys in front of me were fantastic,” said Simon.
“It shows what a magnificent team spirit we have.
“We have a great set of lads, we fought to the end and we deserved it.
“It is only half the job done; we have to focus on going up.
“Today will mean nothing if we don’t win at Wembley.”
Sam Saunders, Paul Hayes and Harlee Dean scored spot kicks for Brentford, drawing The Bees level in the shoot-out after Swindon had struck.
Simon saved from Miles Story and Tony then stepped up to put Brentford in front.

Tony praised his goalkeeper and said he was happy to take the responsibility from 12 yards when asked by Manager Uwe Rösler.
“Simon has produced a number of penalty saves this season,” said Tony.
“He has kept us in games and got us points.
“It has been a pleasure to play with him behind me.
“I took a penalty before and I scored that.
“When the gaffer gave me the nod you have to put yourself up.
“They keep telling me I am one of the more experienced players in this team, I am only 28.
“The gaffer asked me if I wanted it and I wasn’t going to turn it down.
“I chose a side and stuck to it.”
Simon said he had faith he would save at least one.
“I felt very confident I would save one,” said the goalkeeper.
“I was delighted the lads slotted the penalties away.
“They were magnificent penalties.
“They made my job easy.
“The standard of penalties was excellent.
“It was unbelievable.”
Simon is set to play at Wembley for the second time in his short career – he was between the sticks when Brentford lost to Carlisle United in the Johnstone’s Paint Trophy Final in 2011.
“In 2011 it was bittersweet,” he said.
“Going to Wembley was a fantastic experience, I was only a young lad, but after the game I was bitterly disappointed.
“If today felt good, winning there will feel ten times better.
“We will go there with every belief we can win.”
