Alan Judge said Brentford got what they deserved from their Sky Bet Championship clash against Nottingham Forest – a 3-1 win.
The Bees triumphed at The City Ground last night to record their second straight win, after victory over Derby County on Saturday.
Jon Toral scored the opener just past the quarter hour and Andre Gray made it two before half time.
Gray then won a penalty converted by Alex Pritchard to put The Bees 3-1 up less than five minutes into the second half.
Michail Antonio scored late on for Forest but Brentford had done more than enough.
Alan, speaking to Bees Player after the match, said Brentford were by far the better team and could have won by more.
Gray forced Karl Darlow in to two good saves and Jonathan Douglas missed from close range for The Bees while Alan himself went close with a curling effort.
Alan said The Bees went to Forest full of confidence and got the right result.
“We got what we deserved tonight,” said Alan.
“We were the better team by far and it should have been more.
“It should maybe have been five or six.
“We are delighted to come here after a great result against Derby and follow it up with a good performance here.
“We got the right result.
“I wouldn’t say we were expecting to win but we were full of confidence.
“I don’t think we have come in to an away game that confident and it showed tonight.”
Forest started with a 4-1-4-1 system with Antonio, better known as a winger, up front and central defender Michal Mancienne in a defensive midfield role.
Alan said that showed the respect Forest had for The Bees.
He said it made life difficult but Brentford enjoyed the challenge and had players to work around in a tight space.
“They showed us a lot of respect by not playing a centre forward,” said Alan.
“Antonio played up there and he is a good player but normally plays wide.
“I wouldn’t say they were scared of us but they certainly showed respect.
“It is good to see teams doing it.
“It makes it harder but we enjoy the challenge.
“We have players with great movement, no-one hangs out on the wing, we all interchange.
“No-one likes playing against movement.”
Alan played in a wide midfield role having played most of the season centrally.
He said he would play wherever Brentford Manager Mark Warburton wanted him to.
“The gaffer wanted me to get wide and get a few crosses in,” said Alan.
“I think I did that.
“We were unlucky not to score from one again tonight.
“I am enjoying it.
“In the first half on Saturday I had forgotten what it was like to play there but I enjoyed the second half and again tonight.
“I enjoy playing centrally too, wherever the gaffer wants me I am happy to play.”
Alan said Brentford were on their game from the start, which helped them take control.
He also praised striker Gray for bringing others in to the game and said he deserved his goal, the second in two games.
“We have been saying that in away games it takes us 20 minutes to get in to the game,” said Alan.
“I think we were on it from the start tonight.
“We attacked well, played a high press and I thought we were brilliant on the ball.
“Andre was unbelievable.
“He helped us get up the pitch.
“He shows that in training and we wanted him to bring it in to games.
“He did it tonight, everything came together and I am pleased for him.
“He could have had a hat-trick.
“The goals will come, he works very hard.
“He has come a long way and I think everyone is very happy for him.”
Brentford went in at half time 2-0 up but Forest switched things around at the break, bringing on an additional striker.
The Bees got a goal just after the interval, which Alan said made a big difference, and then defended well as the hosts played an even more direct game.
Alan said special praise for centre halves Harlee Dean and Tony Craig for their work getting the points.
“The goal just after half time made a big difference,” he said.
“We had done most of the damage in the first half.
“Again, it was great play by Andre, he won the penalty.
“It wasn’t comfortable from there but there wasn’t a lot of football played.
“The lads at the back were brilliant.
“Harlee will head anything and Tony will run through a brick wall.
“You can see them throwing their bodies in the way on the edge of the penalty area.
“Not many teams do that for each other.”
Nearly 1,000 Brentford fans made the trip and Alan had special words for them.
“The fans were brilliant,” he said.
“We have had great away support at every away game and it means a lot to us.
“We want to put on a show for them and thankfully we did today.”
