Brentford manager Uwe Rösler gave his post-match verdict after his side recorded back-to-back victories away from home, stopping Coventry City from scoring for the first time this season, in a convincing 2-0 win at Sixfields.
“We played against very good side,” said Uwe. “The first ten or 15 minutes took us a while to realise we had to defend from the top, after that, when the two strikers did what we planned to do the whole week, I think Coventry struggled to get their game going.
“We looked very good on the counter attack,” added Uwe.
“For periods in the second half; we kept the ball as well, what is encouraging is that after 2-0, we went for the third, and the fourth, still attacked them, but didn’t leave ourselves open.
“Coventry is a very good footballing side; they should get more praise of the way they play.
“With the ten point deduction, they would have been far higher up in the table under normal circumstances, so I’m delighted to get three points here.”
Uwe was quick to praise both strikers, Clayton Donaldson and Will Grigg, for their work rate and sticking to a game plan that frustrated the home side.
“Without them doing the job we asked them to do, we would have had problems,” said Uwe.
“They limited their offensive options from the back, and looked dangerous when they had the ball.
“I was asking a lot from them, but that is now the standard, and they lived up to it and I’m very happy for them.”
The manager would not be drawn on selecting individuals from the victory, preferring to praise the team’s overall effort.
“I wouldn't mention one player today; it was a very strong team performance,” said Uwe.
“I felt players that have been criticised by me internally, responded very well today, after last Monday.”
