Liam Moore said it was a “nice feeling” to be named Man of the Match on his Griffin Park debut.
The 20-year-old defender joined Brentford from Leicester City on a Youth Loan late last month.
He made his debut in a win against Crawley Town on Tuesday and started in the centre of defence in the 1-0 win over Scunthorpe United yesterday.
He was named Man of the Match by the sponsors after the win but admitted he would swap personal accolades for team success.
“It was a very nice feeling,” said the defender, speaking to Bees Player after the match.
“I wanted to show the fans here what I could do and to be named Man of the Match tops a good day off.
“I would swap the Man of the Match for a clean sheet every week.
“If we do that we have the quality in the team to get goals and that will get us promoted.
“We did things the right way today and we did it all through the game.
“We defended well.
“We have to be pleased.”
Brentford dominated the match but it took until the 70th minute for them to get the crucial goal, Tom Adeyemi coming off the bench to score.
The visitors came to Griffin Park with a defensive midfield player behind another four and full backs that barely ventured forward.
Brentford had plenty of chances and Liam said patience was key.
“Most teams that come to Griffin Park are going to put men behind the ball,” said Liam.
“They know what we are capable of.
“Patience is a big part.
“We kept playing, turned them when we had to and got our rewards.
“We kept plugging away and more often than not if you do that you will get the goal.
“If we keep doing that, not many teams will be able to hold on against us for the full 90 minutes.”
The visitors played with one man up front and Liam said communication between fellow centre back Harlee Dean and himself was crucial.
Crawly also played with one striker against The Bees on Tuesday night, after having a man sent off inside the first 50 seconds.
“We have faced one striker twice in the last week,” said Liam.
“They put a man between me and Harlee.
“We have to communicate and make sure one locks on.
“The other can then see the whole picture.
“I feel I have settled in nicely.
“The players seem to be able to rotate.
“There is an easy structure, the Manager gets his point across.
“There is no confusion, everyone knows what they want to do.”
Brentford are now unbeaten in five npower League One matches and have climbed to fourth.
They have away games coming up against Stevenage and Carlisle United in the next week.
Liam said Brentford wanted to win those games but it was important not to lose.
“The lads have confidence,” said the defender.
“We are not cocky but we realise teams fear us.
“That gives us an edge.
“We want to keep passing the ball, teams will come here, we will wear them down and get the goals.
“It was important to win today but we need to make sure we don’t lose our away games.
“We will be looking to take maximum points from these two games and if we can’t, make sure we don’t get beat.”
