Moses Odubajo made his debut for England Under-20 last night and played 90 minutes.
The Brentford right back played the full match as England drew the friendly match 1-1 at The Hive, home of Barnet FC, last night, Wednesday March 25.
The match was then decided by a penalty shoot-out which England won 4-2.
Moses started as a right wing back in England’s 3-5-2 system and had a decent impact during a first half Mexico dominated.
The visitors then went ahead early in the second half but England responded well with Moses to the fore higher up the pitch on the right side.
England levelled when former Brentford loan striker Chuba Akpom won and converted a penalty.
Mexico goalkeeper Raul Manolo Gudiño Vega was sent off for bringing down Akpom to concede the penalty and England dominated the later stages.
Moses almost set up Akpom for the winner but Mexico held on only to miss their first two spot kicks and lose the shoot-out.
Moses spoke to the media after the match and described his debut as a “dream come true” while England Under-20 Manager Aidy Boothroyd praised the Brentford man for his performance.
Brentford striker Chris Long, who is on loan from Everton, was also in the squad but was not involved last night.
Moses came through the youth ranks at Leyton Orient and turned professional in the summer of 2011.
He established himself in the Orient team in the 2012/13 season and played every League One match as the East London side challenged for promotion in 2013/14.
He helped The Os finish third in League One, missing out on automatic promotion to Brentford, and then joined The Bees last summer.
Moses has played 40 games for Brentford, scoring three goals.
England Under-20 have one more game to come during the current international fixture period – they play USA at Plymouth Argyle on Sunday.
