Liam Moore said words from former Brentford loanee Jeffrey Schlupp convinced him to join The Bees on loan until the end of the season.
The 20-year-old defender joins from Leicester City where he has featured 14 times for The Championship club this term.
The former England Under-17 international said that once he spoke to his team mate there was no doubt in his mind about coming to Griffin Park.
“I had heard bits about Brentford,” said Liam.
“I spoke to Jeffrey Schlupp, who was a big hit here, and he said it was a great club and to come and fight for promotion is the best thing about it.
“I speak to Jeffrey daily and he always has good things to say about Brentford and it was an easy decision to come here.
“I had a gut feeling it was the right place to come but then talking to people made it much easier.
“I spoke to Uwe and he said there were going to be opportunities for me.
“It’s quite a small squad so there are going to be opportunities to play.
“If there are times I need to be patient I will be patient but when I am out there I will be giving my all.
Liam, who will wear the number 32 shirt at Griffin Park, featured heavily for The Foxes at the beginning of the season but has seen himself fall down the pecking order in recent months.
Having spoken to Leicester manager Nigel Pearson they agreed that it would be best for his development to go out on loan to play competitive matches.
“It was a big step up at the start of the season in The Championship,” said Liam.
“I played a lot of games last year in League Two and I had a bit of a taste back at Leicester at the end of last season.
“To be thrown in straight away at the start of the season was a good start to the year.
“I started the season playing a lot of games for Leicester and it has faded away a bit as they have got a few options there.
“Nigel Pearson has always been honest with me.
“He has faith in me which is nice. I started to play a few games and he thought I could go out and come back a better player which I am more than happy to do.
“I spoke to the manager and we both agreed that it was time for me to come and get games.
“I’ve come to a top League One team, which was my aim, and I am happy to be here.
With Uwe Rösler having an almost fully-fit squad to choose from Liam is not expecting to walk straight into the starting XI at Griffin Park.
However, he believes that having that competition is something which can raise his game, especially given Liam’s versatility.
“Wherever I have been there has always been competition,” said Liam.
“There was at Bradford, there definitely is at Leicester with five centre-halves, and I expect the same here.
“I can slot in at right-back which is where I played all my games for Bradford last year.
“I have played five or six games at right-back for Leicester this season, played at centre-back as well and I’ve played centre-midfield all the way through my youth career, so I can play any of those three.
“I think playing out of the defence is the best way.
“If it has got to go, it has got to go but if all the boys are on the same wave-length and look to play it out then I think that is the best way.”
