Simon Moore said Brentford’s 2-0 win over Sheffield United on Saturday was their best result and performance of the season.
The Bees climbed to fifth in npower League One by beating The Blades on Saturday as Clayton Donaldson and Harry Forrester scored first half goals.
The win came after Brentford had beaten fellow promotion-chasers Swindon Town in Wiltshire last Tuesday and picked up a point away to Preston North End the previous Saturday.
Simon, speaking to The Bees Player Show after the match, said every Brentford players was fantastic.
“I was very pleased with a clean sheet,” said the goalkeeper.
“We got a massive result last Tuesday against Swindon and came in full of confidence.
“This was our best result of the season; it shows what good form we are in.
“Harry Forrester showed what he can do today.
“In the first half he tore them apart.
“We were fantastic last Tuesday, didn’t play so well at Preston bit picked up a point but this was the best performance of the season.
“Every man was fantastic, everyone gave their all.
“We deserved to win.
“They camped in our half in the second half but the boys in front of me were fantastic.”
Simon made a few fine saves during the match, one from a Shaun Miller header early on and others in the second half.
“I thought it would be a busy game,” he said.
“Conditions were very difficult for a goalkeeper.
“I was pleased with my handling
“The save I was most pleased with was the one after ten minutes.
“We had scored an early goal, if they had got one then, it puts us on the back foot.
“It was a group effort today.
“I was delighted to keep a clean sheet.”
Brentford sit four points off the top of League One after 20 games and Simon said the team had moved on from 2011/12 when they finished ninth.
The goalkeeper is aiming high.
“This team is different to last season,” he said.
“We have had a steady start but over the past week have shown what we are all about.
“It is a long season, we have a long way to go, but we have played teams in the top six and looked the best team every time.
“It shows how far we have come.
“Sheffield United beat us 2-0 last season, we played well but conceded goals.
“We got an early goal, got the crucial second goal.
“We are all delighted, we played some good football, when we did we looked like an excellent side.
“If we keep going in the right direction, I see no reason why we can’t be playing in The Championship next year.”
Marcello Trotta also spoke to The Bees Player Show after making his debut in the win.
The striker joined The Bees from Fulham last week and has signed a deal to stay at Griffin Park initially until January 13.
“It was a good game for us,” he said.
“It was a good win; it’s good to keep the run going and to keep winning games.
“The manager told me to enjoy it.
“He said the players would help me and I should work hard for them.
“That is what happened.”
Marcello said it was a good time to come to Brentford with The Bees currently on an eight-match unbeaten run and having lost just one of their last 16 in all competitions.
He said he could learn from Brentford Manager Uwe Rösler.
“I like the ball in to feet and running in to the channels,” he said.
“Every game is different.
“Brentford try to play when it is possible.
”This will suit me.
“The players have made me feel welcome, there are a few new guys and everyone has tried to help.
“Brentford is the right option for me, the manager can help me, he was a striker, I can learn from him.
“This is a good time to come to Brentford.
“It was a good start.”
