The season so far
Hull City visit Griffin Park tonight in a league match for the first time since May 2005. That season, Hull were promoted and Brentford made the League One Play-Offs.
Three wins in their opening five games helped the team push on, before a dip in form between the international breaks. Bruce’s side have since picked up 13 points from a possible 15 in October. They have also reached the Quarter-Finals of the Capital One Cup, beating Premier League sides Swansea City and Leicester City along the way.
Former Bee Moses Odubajo returns for the first time since his summer move to Yorkshire. Striker Chuba Akpom, on loan from Arsenal, also had a spell at Griffin Park during a month-long deal at the start of 2014.
Isaac Hayden [Arsenal], Sam Clucas [Chesterfield], Ryan Taylor [Newcastle United], Shaun Maloney [Chicago Fire] and Greg Luer [Burgess Hill Town] were also new arrivals during the most recent transfer window. Going the other way were Tom Ince [Derby County], Robbie Brady [Norwich City], James Chester [West Bromwich Albion], Dame N’Doye [Trabzonspor] and Nikica Jelavic [West Ham United].
Hull will be without injured duo Adama Diomande and Robert Snodgrass tonight as both continue to recover from long-term knocks.
The Gaffer
Steve Bruce is the second longest serving manager in the Championship, having been in charge of the Tigers since June 2012. After a two-year stay in the top flight, the former Manchester United captain’s side were relegated last season.
After a highly successful playing career, winning four league titles as well as both domestic and European cup trophies, he stepped straight into management in 1998. His previous positions include spells at Birmingham City, Wigan Athletic and Sunderland.
