Brentford Head Coach Lee Carsley sounded a warning on tonight's clash with Hull City at Griffin Park, claiming that it was important not to treat the match with Steve Bruce's side lightly after four successive wins.
“We spoke about it a couple of weeks ago,” said Lee. “You win a couple of games and it’s quite easy to take your foot off the gas and feel like you’ve achieved something. It’s important that the lads are celebrating at the end of the season rather than during it.
“It’s a good achievement winning the four games, in the manner that they’ve won them, and the opponents that they’ve played. In terms of achieving, we’ve done nothing yet, we’ve got a mountain to climb.”
Hull arrive for their first league match at Griffin Park in 20 years lying second in the table and unbeaten in eight league matches after their demotion from the Premier League in the summer, and the 41-year-old is up against a familiar face.
“They’ve got a good manager in Steve Bruce,” said Lee. “He’s local to where I live, so someone that I bump into quite a bit. I’ve got a lot of respect for him and his staff. They’ve got some outstanding players. I’ve been on the end of a relegation myself, there’s that hangover to motivate yourself to play. We’re hoping we can give them a good test and show them what we can do.”
