Brentford Manager Mark Warburton has asked for Bees fans to get Griffin Park rocking for tomorrow’s match against Bolton Wanderers.
The Bees face Bolton in their penultimate Sky Bet Championship home match of the season tomorrow, Saturday April 18.
Brentford are currently seventh in the table and are looking for three wins from their final three games as they chase a Play-Off place.
They were unbeaten in five before defeat to Sheffield Wednesday on Tuesday and Mark praised Brentford supporters for their backing of the team.
He called for one final effort for the end of the season which sees two home games and a trip to Reading and said when Bees fans travel in numbers, like to Fulham, the team responds.
“We are really grateful for the backing of the fans, it has been magnificent all season,” said the Brentford boss.
“I don’t want it to sound repetitive, we are aware of the time and financial outlay to follow us.
“We need Griffin Park rocking for our two home games and at Reading we need as many Bees there as possible.
“You saw at Fulham how the boys responded.
“We want to send the fans home happy.”
Brentford have taken just one point from their last two games despite dominating.
They drew 1-1 with Derby County last Saturday, April 11, after conceding a stoppage time equaliser, before losing to Wednesday on Tuesday after chances went begging.
The Bees have 71 points and Mark said he was sure three wins would secure a top six finish.
“They are an honest group,” said Mark.
“We should have taken three points on Saturday, we played well enough, we took one.
“We dominated the game on Tuesday and didn’t get any points.
“We are disappointed and frustrated but we have three huge games coming up.
“We might need 70 points but 75 or 76 may be enough.
“If you get 80 points you must be almost guaranteed.
“All we can do is prepare as best we can for three massive games, deliver a performance and get the right result.”
Bolton beat Brentford 3-1 in the reverse match in October.
Mark said the visitors had a squad packed with talent including players such as former England international Emile Heskey, former Barcelona striker Eiður Guðjohnsen, Portuguese attacker Rochinha and goalkeeper Adam Bogdan.
But he said it was up to his team to produce a performance to win the game.
“Their squad is packed with talented names,” said Mark.
“They have Heskey and Guðjohnsen, Matt Mills and Rochinha, Bogdan in goal.
“Their squad is very talented.
“They played a diamond up there but it has been more 3-5-2 in recent weeks.
“It is up to us.
“We have to impose our style on the game, if we do we will be OK, if we don’t we will struggle.
“We have to take our chances and do what we do best.”
Bolton cannot be relegated or win promotion but Mark said that would not make them less motivated with contracts and futures to play for.
He said other teams – like Nottingham Forest – had come to Griffin Park and put men behind the ball but his team would carry on playing like they had and break them down.
“Any professional is always fighting to impress,” said Mark.
“It is a sorry state if players don’t give 100 per cent.
“I expect a team very keen to get three points.
“We are aware of the threat they pose.
“Forest came here with nine men behind the ball and it was tough to break down.
“Our job is to be clever, don’t lose patience, make good decisions and get the rewards.
“We have the players to do that.
“We don’t have to change, we have done that all season.”
Brentford were without Alex Pritchard and Chris Long for the match against Wednesday.
Pritchard had a dead calf and Long returned to Everton for treatment on an injury.
Long played and scored for Everton in an Under-21 match yesterday, Thursday April 16, as he continued his recover and Mark said he hoped both would be available.
“I hope Alex and Chris will be fit,” he said.
“Alex has been with the medical team, we will see how he goes.
“Chris went back to Everton to see how he is getting on.
“Fingers crossed we will be in good shape.
“Our relationship with the parent clubs is about trust.
“We tell them how he is medically and show them DVDs.
“It is about balance and trusting each other.
“Premier League clubs have to trust clubs they lend their players to, we have to show we have an environment conducive to development.
“If we can do that, loans work well.”
Development Squad midfield player Jermaine Udumaga was on the substitute’s bench at Wednesday.
Mark said he spoke regularly to Development Squad Manager Lee Carsley and wanted to show young players a path to the First Team.
“The Development Squad had to be a pathway,” he said.
“They have to see progression.
“There is nothing worse than training seeing no pathway.
“We talk to Lee Carsley every morning and if players train well, they work with us.
“Jermaine has trained with us, he has done well.
“He has travelled with us and will learn from the other players.
“He is not on the bench to make up the numbers, he is pushing hard.
“He has to be better than those in front of him but it is healthy competition.”
Mark also updated on injured pair Lewis Macleod and Scott Hogan.
Macleod played 45 minutes for Brentford’s Development Squad against Forest last month but was still recovering.
Hogan was working his way back from a serious knee injury sustained in August and was training.
The striker spent time in Philadelphia in January with world renowned Conditioning Coach Bill Knowles and met him again this week.
“Lewis Macleod is good, he played 45 minutes against Forest and felt there was a lack of power in the leg,” said Mark.
“That is understandable, he has been off for four months.
“We have sought outside help, the best we think we can find.
“Hopefully that has the desired impact.
“We have to make sure the player is right.
“Scott Hogan is making real progress.
“Bill Knowles is over here, he has come to see Scott as he is lecturing in London and will give a tutorial to our medical team this afternoon.
“It is great to see Scott out there, we have missed him, he would have been a real asset for us but he will be a big talent for the Club.”
Brentford currently have Sam Saunders and Nico Yennaris on loan at Sky Bet League Two promotion chasers Wycombe Wanderers.
The pair are playing regularly and Mark said he considered recalling Saunders because of the injury problems but thought it better he stayed with the Buckinghamshire club.
“I thought about recalling Sam,” said the Brentford boss.
“Sam is getting match practice, as is Nico, and in a team fighting for promotion.
“It is really beneficial for them and us.
“To call him back to sit on the bench while we don’t have Alex and Chris would mean he then couldn’t go back to Wycombe.
“He could lose that match fitness and we will need that for the Play-Offs.
“The decision was taken to keep him there.
“Wycombe are looking after him and we are delighted with the loan.”
