Brentford Manager Mark Warburton said his group could use the frustration felt after losing to Norwich City on Tuesday night when they travel to Middlesbrough.
The Bees are at the Riverside Stadium for a Sky Bet Championship fixture tomorrow, Saturday September 20.
It comes just four days after they were beaten 3-0 by Norwich at Griffin Park.
Mark said the Norwich match changed when his side were not awarded a penalty when Alex Pritchard was fouled.
The Bees were one down at the time after being punished when James Tarkowski played a loose pass and Norwich scored again seconds after Brentford’s penalty appeal was turned down.
They then scored a third soon after.
Mark said his players were tremendous on Tuesday and the score line was harsh as Brentford had much the better of the first half and more chances overall but they could use the annoyance they felt.
“The frustration from Tuesday has taken a while to subside,” said the Brentford boss, speaking to Bees Player.
“The biggest frustration is to how the result would have been perceived.
“It looks like Norwich battered us, I can’t think of a score line that flattered the opposition more and Norwich would be the first to say that.
“The game changed on one poor decision.
“We made a mistake to give the first goal away, I have no problem with that, we create goals when we play out from the back.
“We learn from mistakes and I have no problem but I have a problem when the players fight back and we earn a penalty that is not given.
“We can use this frustration.
“The players were tremendous on Tuesday.
“We matched Norwich and the stats show we created more chances.”
Mark said the goal conceded against Norwich would not change Brentford’s policy of passing from defence.
“No-one is perfect,” he said.
“You learn through mistakes.
“The boys have always played out and done it well.
“We look comfortable and when we moved Norwich around we got out and played.
“We got punished for a mistake and that is how we learn.”
Mark said there were no new injuries ahead of the Middlesbrough game but Nico Yennaris picked up an injury playing for the Development Squad against Colchester United.
He also updated on long-term injury victims Sam Saunders and Scott Hogan.
“Stuart Dallas has a small problem but that is being treated,” he said.
“It will be the same squad travelling and they are in good shape.
“We are confident in our preparation and the players need to get their rewards.
“Sam Saunders is doing great; he is almost running on full load.
“He will be on the grass next week.
“Scott Hogan’s rehabilitation has started.
“Nico Yennaris picked up an injury in the Under-21 game and he will be looked after.
“It’s disappointing; we want him around the First Team.”
Middlesbrough are ninth in the table and beat Cardiff City away from home on Tuesday with Spanish striker Kike scoring the only goal.
The Bees will have to travel more than 250 miles north for the match and Mark said the journey back would feel shorter if they had all three points
“Middlesbrough are a very good team,” said Mark.
“They are very organised and come off a good win at Cardiff on Tuesday.
“Kike is a good forward, we know all about him.
“They have pace on the flanks and are a good quality side.
“It’s a good test but we don’t have to fear anyone.
“We want to impose our style of play on the game.
“We will leave here at 1pm on Friday and get to the hotel at 7pm but coming back it will be 1am on Sunday as we can’t go by train.
“They are draining trips but with three points the journeys don’t seem so long.”
