His thoughts on the start of the 2014/15 season are below:
The first 11 games of this Premier League season have flown by without many surprises.
I think we all expected Chelsea to be top, maybe not with such domination though, and I'm not too surprised at the teams lagging behind at the bottom of the table.
However, the rise of Southampton, and the slow start by both Liverpool and Tottenham Hotspur has raised a few eyebrows.
In particular Southampton, they have been excellent so far this season, still playing in a similar way as the previous seasons, but with a large amount of new players.
Many pundits and fans expected Southampton to struggle massively this season, after losing a large bulk of their team in the summer, and I was one of those who doubted them.
But how could everyone get it so wrong?
Two players who have taken to premiership without any trouble are Dusan Tadic and Graziano Pelle, and we are all shocked, but why?
Looking at Dusan Tadic, his stats speak for themselves in his career, scoring 28 goals in 66 games for FC Twente.
Fair enough its not the one of the major major leagues in Europe, but for a midfielder its pretty impressive.
On the international scene he’s also scored six goals in 28.
So looking at that it shouldn’t come as a surprise to us that he’s created six goals and scored one in his short career in England so far.
Then onto Pelle, his scoring record is fantastic scoring 27 in 29 games then 23 in 28 in consecutive seasons for Feyenoord.
Spending their money wisely by scouting well and not panicking when so many players moved on.
But its not just these two players, the triumph of keeping Morgan Schniederlin was a major achievement who both defensively and offensively has been one of the best players in the Premier League in the first 11 games.
The number of different goal scorers for Southampton compared to Liverpool and Tottenham is also a major factor I feel.
The Saints have had nine different scorers compared to five for Tottenham and eight for Liverpool.
However the top scorer for Liverpool has three goals and six players have one goal to their name.
This is a major issue for these two clubs who are looking to try get into a Champions League spot.
Teams need goals to come from all over.
All you have to do is look at Chelsea who have had 12 different scorers.
It's no shock they are top.
Yes fair enough Liverpool lost one of the best players in the world in Luis Suarez.
Suarez brought goals and assists, which is lacking in Liverpool’s make up this season.
They seem to have a lot of nice footballers, but no cutting edge without Suarez.
Only three players have an assist to their name, where as the top clubs, Chelsea and Manchester City have eight and 13 respectively.
This is maybe the reason they aren’t scoring enough.
But another issue is if we compare the amount of shots Mario Balotelli, Sergio Aguero and Diego Costa have had in the Premier League this season, from inside the box, maybe we can understand why Liverpool aren’t scoring enough and winning games.
Compared to Aguero’s 44 and Costa’s 23, Balotelli has had a very poor amount, totalling just 11 shots from inside the box.
For me, that’t not going to get Liverpool into the Champions League.
