James Ferry's Welling United slipped ever closer to the National League relegation trapdoor after a 17th match without a win as Aldershot Town took the points at Park View Road. Ross Lafayette scored the only goal of the game from the penalty spot late on in the second-half as The Wings wait for a win continues. 18-year-old James played the full 90 minutes as United stay 22nd but they are now eight points from safety ahead of tomorrow night's Kent derby against Bromley.
Mark Smith suffered his first defeat back at Hampton and Richmond Borough as The Beavers were beaten 1-0 by Tonbridge Angels in a top of the table clash. The only goal of the game came as The Angels were awarded a controversial second-half penalty which was converted by Luke Blewden. Despite the defeat The Beavers stay top of the Ryman Premier League table but are now just two points clear of second-placed East Thurrock United.
Audrius Laucys was not involved as Hemel Town were denied a first win in seven by a 94th minute equaliser from Bath City's Dan Bowman. Graeme Montgomery's early strike looked to have Town heading for the three points at Vauxhaul Road but Bowman popped up in injury time to poke home.
In La Liga, Eibar's hopes of European Football next season took a blow as they were beaten 1-0 at home by lowly Las Palmas. Brentford loanee Jota was withdrawn at half time for the Basque side who had fallen behind in first-half injury time when Nabil El Zhar's cross was headed home by Pedro Bigas. The defeat means that Eibar drop to eighth, five points off European qualification, after a fifth defeat in six matches.
