Nik Tzanev was unable to stop Needham Market taking the three points as Lewes slipped to second-bottom in the Ryman Premier League after a 1-0 defeat at Bloomfields. In a battle between two of the divisions bottom four going into the weekend it was the home side who got the all-important goal just after the break as Michael Brothers headed past Tzanev in The Rooks goal. The loss was Lewes sixth straight defeats in all competitions and leaves them 23rd with six points from 14 games.
Aaron Greene lasted only 30 minutes before going off in Boston United's 3-1 win away at Nuneaton Town on Saturday. United netted through Ryan Robbins, Dayle Southwell and Scott Garner to pick up the three points at Liberty Way. The win, only a second in eight matches, means United climb to 12th, five points outside the National League North Play-Off places.
Elsewhere Josh Laurent and Daniel O'Shaughnessy were both not included in the matchday squads for Newport County and Braintree Town. The Exiles drew 1-1 against high-flying Exeter City while Braintree secured a fine 2-0 win over Eastleigh Town to remain very much in Play-Off contention in the National League.
