Lee Carsley gave his reaction to the 2-0 victory at Wolves, his second in succession as Head Coach.
“I thought the players got what they deserved tonight,” said Lee. “It was a good performance all round from start to finish. They worked really hard, closed Wolves down. We looked a real threat in possession. We passed the ball, played with a lot of confidence and it just goes to show how quickly it can change in football. The last two games have been excellent and it’s important now we follow up it on Saturday.”
The return of the team’s confidence was evident, with Brentford scoring in each half in a deserved victory.
“I spoke about it in the dressing room that a lot of the things that the players have done tonight, it was all about them,” said Lee. “Their confidence has come back, they moved the ball quickly, and made angles for each other. As soon as they gave the ball away they were aggressive with their pressing and made it difficult for Wolves. There were a lot of plusses from tonight.”
Carlsey made the decision to rest Canos for this game, giving him a 20 minute stint towards the end.
“The pleasing thing was the subs that we’ve made tonight, they’ve all had an impact,” said Lee. “We spoke about it pre-match that the team that starts won’t be the one that finishes. It’s good for Hoff that he’s got a goal.
“With hard work and determination the confidence comes back and I had a feeling it wouldn’t be gone for long because they are good players, I see them day-in, day-out.”
