David Button gave his thoughts after the 2-0 win against Wolverhampton Wanderers pushed Brentford up to 15th place in the Sky Bet Championship.
“I’ve waited all season for the clean sheet,” said David. “When you get one of those you always give yourself a chance of winning the game, especially with the attacking quality we’ve got in the team. It was nice and something we can build on.”
David spoke of his frustration of not keeping a shut-out prior to tonight’s win but it did not let it affect him.
“You have to look beyond it and analyse your performance more,” said David. “You have to keep a level head and not get yourself too down. It is important but sometimes it’s out of your control. I’m delighted but it hasn’t been playing on my mind too much.”
David praised the new coaching team, as the team recorded their second victory in succession.
“Lee’s come in with Willo [Paul Williams] and Flemming [Pedersen] and they’ve done a great job of re-energising the lads and getting themselves going,” said David. “I thought we were fully deserving of the victory tonight. The lads were excellent and defended really well; I wasn’t overly busy but I thought everyone out on the pitch was superb and we’ve set the standard now of where we need to be.”
