As part of Brentford's 125th Anniversary celebrations The Bees, in partnership with the Community Sports Trust, are holding a season-long tournament for local primary schools within the 5 boroughs that the Trust works in.
Wednesday 11th March saw the borough of Richmond hold its tournament, played at Kingston Grammar School's sports ground.
This was the first 125 tournament to take place on grass; the weather was lovely which made for a great setting.
The games were well contested with much talent on show from all schools involved.
The schools were so evenly matched after the group stages that 2 of the semi-finalists were decided by goal difference.
After lunch, the semi-finals took place with one game going to extra time and another being decided by a penalty shoot out.
The two finalists were Kew Riverside and St. Stephens who played with great desire and commitment throughout the day.
With the two teams so evenly matched the final was decided after extra time as Kew Riverside emerged victors winning 2-1 with both goals coming from Lucian Mandic.
This was the first tournament Kew Riverside had won since their school was formed and the children were delighted to have created a little history for themselves and the school.
Kew Riverside and St. Stephens will be back again to play in the 125 Tournament Finals that take place at Griffin Park later this season.
So far we have finalists from Hounslow, Ealing and Richmond confirmed with two more tournaments, Hillingdon and Spelthorne still to take place.
