Josh McEachran said that all the positive things going on at Brentford made it an easy decision for him to join The Bees.
The 22-year-old midfielder completed his move from Chelsea on Friday morning, signing a four-year contract.
Speaking to Bees Player after signing his contract Josh said: “I have been hearing a lot of positive stuff about Brentford. I met the manager and I watched Brentford a lot in the Sky Bet Championship last season and I think the style of play will suit me perfectly. There is a lot going on at Brentford and there are a lot of positive things happening. The style of play is the main reason why I came here but the manager, chairman and owner all had a big impact and I am really excited to be here.”
Josh joined Chelsea as a seven-year-old and went on to make his debut in a UEFA Champions League tie in September 2010, his Premier League debut following later that month.
The midfielder found his playing time limited at Stamford Bridge and was loaned out five times to find regular football.
For Josh that regular football is what he craves after joining The Bees.
“I have been at Chelsea for 15 years now so I felt it was time for a fresh start,” said Josh. “I want to get settled and start playing week in week out. As a young player all you want to do is to play week in week out. I was playing consistently after the winter break and that is what I needed.
“I feel settled now. I have signed here for four years so I want to meet the rest of the squad and start training. Brentford as a club are really going in the right direction so for me to join at this time is really exciting. The manager and owner have put a lot of faith in me.”
Josh’s latest loan spell saw him play a key role as Vitesse Arnham finished 5th in the Eredivisie and qualified for the Europa League.
Now, playing under a Dutch Head Coach at Brentford, Josh feels that time in Holland will help him to fit in to Marinus Dijkhuizen’s plans well.
“It was a good experience in Holland,” said Josh. “It suited the way that I wanted to play perfectly. It was a lot more technical and tactical and I am looking forward to working with a Dutch manager here.”
