Jonathan Douglas has signed a new Brentford contract, ensuring he will stay at Griffin Park for at least the next 18 months.
The experienced central midfield player now has a deal that will expire at the end of the 2015/16 season and there is an automatic extension of an extra year if he plays a certain number of games next term.
Mark Warburton, Brentford FC Manager, said: “Dougie is a player who focuses on his football.
“The offer has been on the table for some time and he has played exceptionally well for us with a very good level of consistency.
“He is enjoying his football and everyone is delighted he has signed as we move in to the final stretch of the season.
“We were never worried about whether Dougie would sign.
“He was focused on delivering consistent performances, maintaining his level.
“I have been delighted with him.
“Dougie gives us seniority, experience and leads by example.
“The players respect that.
“It is important to get key players signed up and Dougie will push on to give us the best finish to the season possible.”
Jonathan signed for Brentford in June 2011 after leaving Swindon Town.
The 33-year-old Republic of Ireland international had spent two years at the Wiltshire club but left to join The Bees when his contract expired.
Jonathan started out at Monaghan United and moved to Blackburn Rovers at the age of 18, he spent three years at Leeds United before joining Swindon.
He was named Player of the Year in his first season at Griffin Park and played a key role as Brentford won promotion from Sky Bet League One last season.
Jonathan has just past 150 league appearances for Brentford and has played 171 games in all competitions, scoring 14 goals.
