Jonathan Douglas spoke of his delight about signing a new contract that will extend his career at Griffin Park until at least June 2016.
“It’s good to get it signed up,” said Jonathan.
“It’s been going for quite a while; it’s dragged out longer than I hoped but we got there.
“I had the deal all done and dusted before and then we knew the manager wasn’t going to be here next year.
“I didn’t want to go back on my word – I said that I’d sign it and that’s what I did.”
The midfielder mentioned about his and the squad’s gratitude to manager Mark Warburton, who will leave the club in the summer as part of the changes to the football department and described the need to ensure that all players, not just the senior pros, lifted the rest of team.
“I think we all have,” said Jonathan.
“He’s a big part of why I signed here because he was Sporting Director at the time when Uwe Rosler signed me.
“I think everybody at the club owe him a great deal.
“We’ve got to go into these games hoping to win them and sign him off in a good way.
“He’s going to be looking to his future as well and see what he’s going to do; the more games we can win, the better for him.”
Douglas, who turned 33 last November, has called on the team to put the recent back to back defeats behind them and get back on track against an AFC Bournemouth team that sits in third place in the league table.
“We want to go into every game wanting to win; it’s been a tough couple of weeks for us but that hasn’t been the reason why we haven’t won, we haven’t been playing well and that’s why we got beat.
“We’ve got another tough game, against Bournemouth, and we’ll be hoping to put it right.”
