Defender James Tarkowski’s late goal gave Brentford a share of the points at Griffin Park when it seemed extremely unlikely five minutes earlier.
The tall centre back scored deep into injury time, which gave Brentford a draw against all the odds.
“Never write us off,” said James. “We’ve got great team spirit for the last couple of seasons and we pride ourselves on the way we all get on together, and we’ve shown it again today.”
James described his goal against The Tractor Boys.
“It was just a scrap in the box to be honest,” said James. “The ball bounced on the line and I was the first one to make it there so I I’ll take the goal. I think you’ve seen over the last couple of seasons where the team fights back. We got quite a few late goals last season and we carried on today, 2-0 down. [It wasn’t] our greatest performance but we managed to get the two goals and ground out a point, which could be vital come the end of the season.”
The 22-year-old praised Andre Gray for his part in leading the fight back, being instrumental after coming on as a second half substitute.
“Andre made a big difference when he came on,” said James. “We got a bit more in behind them, they were a bit more scared of us. Once you get the one goal, they dropped deeper and deeper to try and cling on for the lead and that gave us more opportunities to go forward and cause more problems.”
