Brentford have completed the signing of 17-year-old goalkeeper James Bransgrove from Waltham Abbey subject to a medical.
James, who is currently studying for his A-Levels, has signed a youth contract until the end of the current season following a successful trial at Griffin Park.
Despite his age, James has been Waltham Abbey’s first choice goalkeeper this season in the Ryman Isthmian North Division and has also featured in Abbey’s FA Cup run.
James goes straight into the squad for tonight’s FA Youth Cup tie at home to Barnet alongside New Zealand Under 17 international goalkeeper Joe Taylor.
Director of Youth Development Ose Aibangee said: “To have two keepers of James’ and Joe’s pedigree is excellent for the club.
“The fact that James has been playing adults league football already shows that he has a good temperament and no small amount of talent.
“He is someone who we are excited to begin working with.”
