Jake Reeves said it was important for Brentford to be patient when teams come to Griffin Park and just looked to make life difficult for them.
The Bees picked up their second home win in three days with a victory over Tranmere Rovers on Tuesday night.
The game followed a similar pattern to the win over Bradford City a few days earlier.
Brentford dominated but could not get the breakthrough in the first half.
They scored twice after the break in both games to take a pair of 2-0 victories.
Jake, speaking to Bees Player: Match Day Live, said being level at half time was not a bad result as Brentford could make the most of their domination after the break.
“Every team will come to Griffin Park and make life difficult,” said the midfield player.
“We have to get used to that.
“No team will come here and play us at our own game with the ball, I don’t think, they will pack the midfield.
“I don’t think 0-0 at half time is a bad result, we have to be patient.
“Teams can’t carry on what they were doing in the first half.
“In the last two games we have come out on top.”
Jake started for the first time since the game away to Peterborough United on January 1.
It was his 20th game of the season and his sixth start.
He said Brentford Manager Mark Warburton had said other players would get a chance with the busy schedule in March and April and when Adam Forshaw was taken off as a precaution in the win over Bradford he thought he had a chance of playing.
“I had an inkling towards the end of last week that I would play,” said Jake.
“The gaffer said there were games coming thick and fast and players would get a go.
“With Adam coming off as a precaution on Saturday I thought I might have a chance.
“Thankfully I got given a chance.”
Jake said he felt he grew in to the game and was happy with the way he finished it.
Charlie Adams came on to make his second Brentford appearance after half time.
Jake played with Charlie in the Brentford Youth Team and said he would only get better with First Team football under his belt.
“I don’t think the first half was that good,” said Jake.
“It was my first game since Peterborough and I grew in to the game.
“I was happy towards the end.
“Charlie coming on took me back a couple of years, playing with him in the Youth Team.
“The best way to describe him is that he plays like Lionel Messi.
“I know that is a very big statement.
“His style is that he likes to run at defenders and play passes.
“He is a confident lad and will only get better.”
Jake said he was happy when Mark Warburton was named Brentford Manager after Uwe Rösler left to join Wigan Athletic and the style of play the new boss wants to implement suits him.
“I didn’t think too much about what would happen with the change of manager,” he said.
“Mark Warburton was working with Nicky Forster when I got my debut so I was happy he was in charge.
“This style suits me.
“I am not the biggest and when the ball is in the air all the time I am basically useless.
“This suits me better.”
Brentford are currently third in Sky Bet League One.
They are three points behind Wolverhampton Wanderers, who are top, and one behind second-placed Leyton Orient.
Jake said Brentford finishing third in League One last season and losing in the Play-Off Final would make the team stronger
“I have no doubts we will get over the line,” said Jake.
“I think this is our year.
“Everything happens for a reason and I think we are stronger for what happened last season.
“We will do it.”
