Brentford Assistant Manager David Weir said the Sky Bet League One win over Tranmere Rovers was a very positive evening for The Bees.
Brentford beat Tranmere 2-0 on Tuesday night; their second home win in four days after beating Bradford City 2-0 on Saturday.
David said the games were similar in some ways – Brentford scored both their goals in the second half in both games, dominating throughout before breaking their visitors down – but different in others.
He said it was good that lots of chances were created and he felt The Bees would convert more of them as the season drew to a close.
“It was pleasing to win again and get a little run going,” said David, speaking to Bees Player: Match Day Live.
“It was definitely positive tonight.
“We created lots of chances.
“We get greedy because we want to score more goals and have a greater margin of victory.
“But the lads are creating chances, I am sure that will come.
“We would love to take more of our chances but the fact we are creating them is a good sign.
“Tranmere hit the bar twice in the first half; they have good players and were a different test.
“We had a lot of the ball but they had more chances.
“The game was similar to Saturday but different in certain aspects.”
Brentford’s first goal came just past the hour mark.
Jake Bidwell delivered a cross from the left and centre half James Tarkowski headed home.
“Any way the goal came it was going to be nice,” said David.
“We had got in to the second half, had the majority of possession and not got one.
“It was pleasing to see it go in and the way it went in was pleasing.”
Brentford started with Jake Reeves in the centre of midfield and Adam Forshaw on the bench.
They also had Will Grigg in attack with Marcello Trotta coming on as a substitute.
David said players were pushing for places and getting others game time would be useful in the long run.
“We have 17 or 18 lads staking a claim to get in the team,” he said.
“Jake Reeves deserved his chance and it was an opportunity to give Adam a little break as well.
“Marcello was on the bench, he got a bit of a breather after his time away on international duty.
“We have a lot of important games coming up.
“Everyone needs playing time and we can have player firing on all cylinders when we go in to the heavy fixture list.”
Brentford are third in Sky Bet League One, a point behind Leyton Orient, in second, and three behind leaders Wolverhampton Wanderers.
Brentford’s next game is away to Orient on Saturday, March 15.
David said the game would not decide anything and The Bees had to get used to playing big matches.
He added Brentford Manager Mark Warburton would send his team out to win the match.
He said the players welcomed the travelling support and had already talked about being back by more than 2,500 Bees fans in East London.
“The lads are self-motivated,” said David.
“They want to be successful and they want the Club to be successful.
“We are looking forward to the game.
“We are looking at what makes us different from other teams.
“It is a big game but we need to play the game and not the occasion.
“We have lots of big games between now and the end of the season, we have to get used to that.
“Mark sets his teams out to impose what we do on other teams.
“We try to score goals be attacking and we feel we can cause teams problem.
“We will go and try and play and win the game.
“This game is one on its own, it’s only three points and there will be lots of games after it.
“If we win nothing is decided, if we lose nothing is decided.
“The travelling support is being talked about in the dressing room.
“It gives us great confidence.”
