Jake Bidwell said Brentford were happy with a point against AFC Bournemouth.
The Bees drew 0-0 with the south coast side on New Year’s Day at Griffin Park.
Jake, speaking to Bees Player after the final whistle, said The Bees had not played as well as they could but it was important not to lose.
“I think, under the circumstances, it is a good point,” said the defender.
“We know we did not play as well as we could have.
“In the end, if we can’t win, don’t lose, we got a point and they all add up at the end of the season.
“We would have liked to have got three points but we are happy with one.”
The Bees extended their unbeaten run to 12 npower League One games with the draw.
The match came on the back of a Boxing Day win at Colchester United, where Brentford played with ten men for the second half, and a draw against Shrewsbury Town.
Jake said three games of high intensity may have caused a drop in performance levels.
“Today, our run of games may have caught up with us,” he said.
“But, that is part of being a footballer.
“Christmas and the New Year is a busy time.
“We have come through with five points; we can be pleased with that.”
The Bees made it nine clean sheets for the League One season with the New Year’s Day shut out.
Jake said it was a collective effort and hailed Harry Forrester for the work he did defending from the left side of midfield.
“The clean sheet was a team effort,” said Jake.
“We analysed them before the game.
“We saw they like to get the ball wide.
“Harry was helping me a lot defensively.
“A clean sheet was the result.
“They have good attacking players, it’s part of the game to deal with.”
Jake is currently on a Youth Loan from Everton but has now made more than 50 appearances for The Bees in two loan spells.
His current deal runs out on January 5 and he said he had not heard anything about an extension but had not done so in the past when it had been renewed.
He said he wanted to stay at Griffin Park for the rest of the season.
“I haven’t heard anything but the last few times it was renewed I didn’t hear,” said Jake.
“I will leave it to the two clubs.
“We are pushing for promotion; it would great to be a part of it.
“We would have like three points today but if we look at the overall picture, we are in a great position.”
