Jake Bidwell said Brentford need to turn decent performances in to wins after their third defeat on the spin.
The Bees were knocked out of the FA Cup yesterday afternoon at Griffin Park, losing 2-0 to Brighton and Hove Albion.
Jake spoke to Bees Player after the match but, unfortunately, the video file was not usable.
During the interview he said The Bees played well but didn’t take their chances or keep the clean sheet needed to win.
“We had a lot of chances,” said Jake.
“But when your chances don’t go in, you need to keep them out at the back.
“Unfortunately, we didn’t today.
“You can look at stats, posession, chances but they have won the game 2-0.
“It was a decent performance and we probably should have got more out of the game.
“But we can’t keep coming in after games and saying that.
“We have lost three on the bounce; it is the first time that has happened this season.
“We need to turn it round.”
Brentford dominated the majority of the match.
Jake said The Bees had enough chances to win two matches but it was the result that counted.
After weathering Brentford’s storm, Brighton struck when Lewis Dunk headed in a free kick in the dying stages.
Chris O’Grady then scored a second in stoppage time to seal the win.
“We had enough chances to win the game twice over – there is no blame for that, we attack as a team and defend as a team,” said Jake.
“Now we have to turn it around.
“It was a decent performance but it is the result that really matters.
“It was disappointing to concede from a set piece, we work hard on them.
“We leave three players up to attack as part of our defending; I haven’t seen other teams do that.
“Teams will get set pieces and we have to defend them.
“I wouldn’t say it cost us as they scored again but it was disappointing and something we will work on.”
Jake said Brentford had to produce that sort of performance in upcoming matches and convert their chances.
He added that conceding the first goal gave the opposition something to hold on to so they had to ensure they were tight at the back as well.
“I don’t think there was much more we could do other than put the ball in the net,” said Jake.
“If we play like that in other games we will win three or four nil.
“Now we have to go and do it.
“Teams will come here and be defensively well drilled and look to get a goal that they can hold on to.”
The defeat followed Sky Bet Championship losses to Ipswich Town and Wolverhampton Wanderers.
In both games The Bees created plenty of chances but failed to convert enough of them.
Jake said confidence would not affected ahead of the visit of Rotherham United to Griffin Park next Saturday, January 10.
“Performances have been good so I don’t think confidence will be affected,” he said.
“If you lose heavily and play badly you lose confidence, we haven’t done that.
“We are creating chances, now we have to put them in.
“We have a week to prepare for Rotherham and we will work towards that.”
