Harry Forrester described his match-winning stoppage time penalty that gave Brentford victory against Coventry as one of the best moments of his career so far.
Harry scored twice as Brentford came back from a goal down to beat The Sky Blues at Griffin Park last night.
The winner came when Harry was brought down in stoppage time and a penalty was awarded.
Brentford had only scored one of their previous five spot kicks but Harry, who admitted his mind was racing when he stepped up, slotted home.
“A million things were going through my head,” said the match winner, speaking to Bees Player after the match.
“I thought ‘It’s my first penalty, 93rd minute, at home, we need a win, not the best time’.
“But I had been practicing all week.
“I knew where I was going before I grabbed the ball.
“I was concentrating on hitting the target and making the keeper work.
“Thankfully it went in.
“It was brilliant when it did.
“It was one of the best moments of my career so far.
“There have not been many but this was one of the better ones.
“It was a beautiful day for me.
“My family was here for the first time too so they should come more often.”
Harry said Brentford’s performance was not as good as in the 1-1 draw with Scunthorpe United and 2-1 defeat against Doncaster Rovers in the preceding ten days.
But he added to concede inside the first ten minutes, come from behind and win showed the progress that was being made in the squad.
“The last two performances have been brilliant but we have not got the results,” said Harry.
“This has been coming.
“Tonight, it wasn’t as good as we have been but we got the result.
“Some of our play was very good, some was not so good.
“We feel we are getting there in the dressing room and we will get there.
“It’s always a setback to concede so early.
“But this is the first time in 16 months we have come back and won.
“That shows the strides we are taking.
“Last year we very rarely came back to draw games, this year we have been doing that and now we have won.
“We are getting there.”
Harry praised the pass from Adam Forshaw that set up his first goal and said he didn’t believe it was possible to play such a ball.
He added the player believed they would win the game and now had to work on being more clinical to win games more convincingly.
“I think we got in positions to hurt them tonight,” he said.
“Adam was brilliant coming in to the little pockets, which allows me to get wide and at the full back.
“Adam and I fit in to this formation well.
“Adam’s pass for the first goal was unbelievable.
“I was talking to him after and I said I made the run but didn’t think it was possible to get the ball.
“I just slotted it away.
“I didn’t think there was a gap.
“It was a great ball and a great weighted pass.
“In those situations it is best not to overthink it, go high or go low and make the keeper work.
“Aim for a spot and try to hit, nine times out of ten you would score.
“We all believed we could turn the game on a bit of magic.
“You have seen tonight that with a pass like Adam’s, we are in.
“We do miss chances but we make a lot.
“Now we have to finish them.”
