Lee Hodson said Brentford were cost a place in the FA Cup with Budweiser Fourth Round by a poor decision.
The Bees drew 2-2 with Southend United in Essex yesterday in a Third Round tie and it will need a replay at Griffin Park to decide the winner.
The controversial moment came with Brentford 2-1 up early in the second half and in relative control.
Kevan Hurst delivered a free kick from the right and Brentford stepped out en masse, leaving the Southend attackers offside, however, assistant referee Mathew Bounassisi kept his flag down and Barry Corr headed home from 12 yards.
Despite appeals from the Brentford defenders, a goal was awarded.
“We have looked back at it and it was at least four or five yards offside,” said Lee, speaking to Bees Player after the final whistle.
“It was clearly offside.
“A bad decision has cost us.
“It is done now and we have to deal with it when we go back to Brentford.
“Everyone knew what they were doing and on the video it is clearly offside.
“I don’t know how they didn’t see it.
“But the referee has given a goal and we have to get on with it.
“Southend have to come to us and we will finish it there but the decision has cost us.”
Southend started well but Brentford went 2-0 up thanks to Tom Adeyemi’s first goal for The Bees and a Ryan Cresswell own goal.
Southend pulled one back straight after Brentford’s second and equalised in controversial circumstances.
Lee said he felt Brentford dealt well with Southend’s threat and were only denied by the decision to award the second goal.
“We had good patches of play in the first half and the second half,” he said.
“They came at us and we dealt with most of their threats quite well.
“But the decision for the second goal cost us.
“We know what Southend are about.
“We knew how to deal with it and we had a game plan.
“We came out on top and scored two goals.
“They scored just after we did and just before half time, that wasn’t ideal.
“If we could have kept a clean sheet until half time, it would have been nice.
“We conceded a goal but then came out in the second half, started well
“Then the decision for the second goal comes along and cost us.
“On our home patch, hopefully we can get a result.”
Lee praised nearly 1,400 Brentford fans that travelled to Essex for the match.
“The fans were fantastic,” he said.
“It definitely makes a difference on the pitch, having that backing.
“It can give you a lift on the pitch.
“You could hear them, it was great support.”
Lee is on loan from Watford and his deal will expire on January 13.
He said he would like to extend his stay at Griffin Park.
“I am happy, I am enjoying my time here,” he said.
“Next week, when it comes a bit nearer, we will have a chat and see what the gaffer wants to do.
“There are a great bunch of lads, a great manager and great coaching staff.
“If they are happy to keep me I would look to stay on until the end of the season.
“The Club is in a great position, fighting for promotion, and it is great to be involved.
“If I can stay here and get games, that is what I want to do.”
