Harlee Dean said Brentford had dropped points in their 1-1 draw with Gillingham.
The Bees left Kent with a share of the spoils after Farid El Alagui came off the substitute’s bench to score a stoppage time equaliser.
Harlee, speaking to Bees Player after the match, said conceding a goal at the end of a first half they had dominated “killed” Brentford.
He said The Bees hadn’t played well enough and were disappointed with their performance.
“I think it is points dropped again,” said the defender.
“We played in to their hands a lot and there weren’t enough good performances all round.
“We did play well in periods but the goal killed us.
“We are disappointed with ourselves, it’s two points dropped and we have to go away next week.”
Brentford fell behind five minutes before the end of the first period when Danny Kedwell headed a cross down and Adebayo Akinfenwa fired in a shot that David Button couldn’t keep out.
Harlee said The Bees did not deserve to be behind at that point and it gave the home side a boost.
He said Brentford had to be better at opening up teams who sit back on what they have.
“I don’t know what happened with the goal,” said the defender.
“I was covering the front post; the ball went to the back stick.
“Some people were saying it was offside but he’s headed it back and it fell to the striker, it could have fallen anywhere.
“We will have to work on it, there’s nothing we can do but learn from it.
“I didn't think we deserved to be behind.
“We were starting to open them up and play; they were getting a bit tired.
“The goal gave them a boost and they went ahead.
“They sat back after the goal.
“We have to be better at playing through teams, being quicker on the ball, playing sharp passes, one-twos.
“We were a bit slow but we got a draw.”
Harlee was involved in Brentford’s equaliser, scored by Farid El Alagui.
The defender rose to meet an Adam Forshaw free kick and headed it down for the striker to bounce a shot in to the net.
Harlee said the goal was improvised and he was delighted to get it in front of more than 1,000 travelling Brentford fans.
“Everyone knows from last year that we never give up,” he said.
“We are fitter than most teams in this league; we go to the final whistle.
“Teams tire out against us when they sit back and there are always chances, we took it.
“I pulled to the side for the goal, we hadn’t practiced it.
“I asked Adam to put it there, he said it was tough but I said to do it.
“He did it and I was against someone small, I nodded it back and Farid get on the end of it.
“I was delighted; it was a great feeling, especially in front of the fans.
“It would have been even better if it was a win.”
