Andre Gray paid tribute to his Brentford team mates and the Club’s staff after being named Sky Bet Championship Player of the Month for November.
The Brentford striker picked up the award yesterday after netting five times and setting up two more as The Bees won five out of five in the month.
Brentford boss Mark Warburton was named Sky Bet Championship Player of the Month to complete a double and Andre said the perfect November, which had seen The Bees climb to third in the table, was a team effort.
“I wouldn’t get the award if it wasn’t for the people behind me,” said the striker.
“I have to give massive thanks to the team and management staff.
“They back me and helped me do it.”
Andre came in to the month having not scored in eight games.
The Bees trailed Derby County 1-0 at the break at the start of the month before Andre levelled after a half time conversation with Brentford Assistant Manager David Weir.
They went on to win and then beat Nottingham Forest four days later with Andre scoring one and being fouled for a penalty that Alex Pritchard converted.
Andre then scored two and set up one in a win at Millwall and, after Fulham were defeated, scored in a win over Wolverhampton Wanderers.
The striker has now scored eight in all competitions since a summer move from Luton Town.
“It’s wicked,” said Andre, telling Bees Player how he felt to win the award.
“To go from the Conference to the Championship is one achievement, to get Player of the Month, I’m buzzing.
“At the start of the month I had a lack of confidence.
“I hadn’t scored for eight games and I was putting pressure on myself to get a goal.
“Playing against Derby, one of the best teams in the league I wasn’t in the game.
“David Weir said to me to get more aggressive and get back to what I was used to
“I felt I came out stronger and better mentally and it went from there.
“The goal gave me confidence.
“I took it in to the next game.
“I played from the start against Forest as I had done in the second half against Derby.
Andre continued: “I think the Forest game was my best performance.
“I could have had a hat-trick that night and I felt I helped the team more than any other game this season.
“My favourite goal was against Wolves.
“Scoring against my home club was special.”
Brentford face Huddersfield Town today looking to record six straight wins in the second tier for the first time in the Club’s history.
“There is no better time for us to be playing any team,” said Andre.
“We have to keep our feet grounded and our work ethic up and come back with three points.
“We won’t listen to anything outside; we can go there and do a job.
“If we are not confident now we never will be.
“We will go there flying with our heads high.”
