Brentford has teamed up with Fantasy Football Scout to help bring you hints, tips and advice throughout the 2026/27 Fantasy Premier League (FPL) season.

Scout will use its expertise to provide information, advice and Gameweek picks that could help you stay on top of your mini-leagues.

Best of the Bees

Mamadou Sangare v Hull City

An equaliser from Dango Ouattara (£6.2m) ensured that the sixth-placed Bees are still unbeaten on the road in the league after drawing 1-1 at Hull City. The midfielder registered 10 points in Gameweek 8. With his first double-digit return of the season, many FPL managers will see him as a good differential investment. He currently features in just 0.4% of teams.

Igor Thiago’s (£7.8m) assist for Ouattara saw him register five FPL points. Thiago has now delivered an attacking return in each of the last four Gameweeks.

Keith Andrews made three changes to his starting line-up, as Kevin Schade (£6.2m), Aaron Hickey (£4.5m) and Mamadou Sangaré (£5.5m) came in. The latter’s pre-season FPL hype intensified after a superb Gameweek 1 haul, and in his first start since Gameweek 4, that resurfaced.

Sangaré completed an incredible 23 defensive actions (clearances, blocks, interceptions and tackles won) in the match against Hull. The Mali international now averages a whopping 15.5 of these actions per 90 minutes, comfortably over the match threshold of 12 that midfielders need to register the additional two points.

Owners will hope he can stay in Andrews’ starting XI and regularly gain these extra points.

The Spotlight

FPL Gameweek 9 Dango Ouattara 1

24-year-old Ouattara looked bright all game in Gameweek 8. The midfielder had four shots, of which two were defined by Opta as big chances. He also created three chances, a total bettered only by Michael Kayode (£4.6m) among his team-mates.

So far this season, Ouattara has started four games and made eight appearances. In those matches he has created eight chances, had nine shots and sits second in the Brentford team for chance involvement.

FPL Gameweek 9 Dango Ouattara

When on the pitch, Ouattara is involved in creating 20% of Brentford’s chances. Only Mikkel Damsgaard (£5.3m) is more involved in creating chances for Brentford when on the pitch. The Dane is responsible for just under a quarter of them.

During 2025/26, Ouattara ranked joint-fourth amongst midfielders for big opportunities (18). Plus, from Gameweek 25 onwards, he was joint-third for creating big chances (nine).

Best of the Rest

Gabriel Magalhaes Ezri Konsa Arsenal v Everton

There were a lot of disappointments for managers in Gameweek 8. Riccardo Calafiori (£6.0m) and Yoane Wissa (£6.1m) came off the bench for one-point cameos, while Bruno Fernandes (£11.7m) didn’t feature and João Pedro (£7.9m) missed out through injury.

However, there were also some big points returns. Arsenal centre-backs Gabriel Magalhães (£7.9m) and Ezri Konsa (£4.7m) both added a goal and bonus points to their clean sheet to score big, with Gabriel’s defensive contribution points taking him to 17 points.

Nicolas Jackson (£6.7m) scored twice to return 13 points for his owners in Aston Villa’s win over Man City, whilst James Hill (£5.5m), Oscar Bobb (£5.5m), Mathys Tel (£5.6m) and Amar Dedić (£4.5m) all returned 11-point hauls for their FPL managers.

In Demand

Unsurprisingly after his brace in Gameweek 9, Villa’s Jackson is the week’s most-bought player so far ahead of Saturday’s Gameweek 9 deadline.

Bournemouth’s victory over Manchester United has also made FPL managers focus on the Cherries and especially on Marcus Tavernier (£6.4m), who has already reached five goals and returned four double-digit hauls in the opening eight Gameweeks.

All Gameweek 9 transfers, chip activations and starting XIs must be locked in by Saturday’s 11am (GMT) deadline.

Captaincy

Erling Haaland Manchester City goal v Aston Villa

A scorer in seven consecutive matches, Erling Haaland (£15.7m) is the only reliable premium player right now. It makes him FPL’s default captain, even though opponents Brighton & Hove Albion are having a good season.

Beyond the Norwegian, it’s a tricky weekend to predict, because many of the most-owned players face each other: Liverpool v Arsenal, Man City v Brighton, and Chelsea v Man United.

Managers could look for a differential captain such as Tavernier, or Spurs’ Jan Paul van Hecke (£4.9) who has now returned in five of the last six Gameweeks and faces a Crystal Palace side who have had the fourth-fewest attempts on goal in the league this season.
