Flemming Pedersen was frustrated with Saturday's defeat to Huddersfield Town as his team created numerous opportunities, but failed to take any, as the hosts ran away 4-0 winners at The PPG Canalside Training Ground. Fraser Horsfall scored an early volley to take a one-goal lead into the break. Three more goals in the second half killed the game.
Speaking to Bees Player after the rainy defeat, Flemming said: "There will always be certain things in the game where you're satisfied, certain things where you're not. Overall it was disappointing to lose 4-0 and we wanted a result. Of course, Huddersfield are a good team, not a fantastic team, but a good one. They were better than us, especially physically, so we stuggled there. When we aren't able to play fast enough and got into too many duels that we lost."
An early goal put The Bees on the back foot against a very well organised Huddersfield team who were quick on the counter attack. Flemming was encouraged by the first 45 minutes but was also disappointed that his team couldn't get the crucial goal to pull them back into the running.
"In the first half, they scored after 7 minutes but then we played very well and had possibilities to get into the game again," he said. "After that they scored to go 2-0 up in the second half and then the third goal killed us. We tried but we could also see some of our players aren't ready after injuries or after not playing much. Jermaine Udumaga, Nathan Fox and Josh Bohui are not ready for 90 minutes but still they had to play because other players couldn't."
Despite the result, Flemming still took positives from the game. Not wanting to get carried away, he also acknowledged the need to improve up front.
"In the second half we moved Bradley to the centre of midfield," he said, "by doing that he can play quickly and it gave us much more. In that position he contributed to our fast combinations essential in that area of the pitch and put a lot of balls in front of their back four. We had some good deep runs and balls in behind from Kyjoun and Josh Bohui.
"That's nothing new from this team. We have had a lot of chances this year, and a lot of scoring possibilities, and today was not an exception."
